Life & Work with Lindsay London of White House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay London.

Lindsay, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We always had a vision for a sophisticated, regal, mature coffee house instead of a coffee shop. Somewhere that felt like grandpas living room with the finest coffee. We wanted somewhere the community could leave their home and come to our home with warmth and superb hospitality and to also feel seen. And we did that.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been smooth generally. With any business project there are some bumps in the road but they’ve been manageable. One struggle we find ourself in is trying to constantly stay authentic to who we are while meeting the community half way. We wanna be honorable to the community. In addition, bigger coffee franchises like starbucks have created this idea/cilture that coffee shops are a place one can come in and just sit and work and use up space and wifi without purchasing products and that’s sort of been something we had to reverse in the coffee shop culture. I think I speak for a lot of mom and pop coffee shops when I say that’s not right unfortunately.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a small family of 3 team (husband, wife, daughter) who have a shared passion for coffee, small businesses and people. We specialize in quality coffee and ambiance. We are known for being community, love and hospitality focused. We are most proud of our community and how supportive and loving they have been. They have also showed us what love and community looks like so they’ve made it easy for us. What sets us apart is that although we love coffee shops and trying different ones, we are ambiance focused, we invest in not just our product but the feeling one gets when they enter this house. We treat this place like its our home from the way we organize, the systems in place, and the way we treat people is how we treat people when they come in to our home. Most importantly we have loving employees who share the same passion.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
We are big faith people and faith needs risk. We aren’t scared to say that we are kingdom minded. We know that God has given us not just free will but this beautiful world full of opportunity and it’s our choice to grab it or not. We understand that theres risk in business which is why we involve God in everything. He knows that paths, the steps to take, the rights from the wrongs, how to right the wrongs. Risk also requires stewardship and with stewardship comes Godly wisdom. Godly wisdom will keep us from a risk or tell us to go! All we know is trust and obedience and have an understanding that a “NO” is a yes in a different perspective. Lastly, regarding risk, we understand that it is okay to be scared but never to be fearful.
