Life & Work with Madelyn Rose of Penn Yan, NY

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madelyn Rose

Hi Madelyn , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my country music career at the age of 4, at the time my parent had bought me a small Casio keyboard which I took lessons on for 10 years. Shy at first, I eventually overcame the hesitation and started uploading vocal covers of her favorite songs on YouTube. As the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted my regular piano lessons, I took the opportunity to explore song writing and started writing my own music. With my parents’ support of course, I made my bedroom into a makeshift home studio and at fourteen, produced a full-length album. I loved every part of the creative music process, including singing, writing, producing, and releasing.

At the age of sixteen, I released my first EP, titled “Teenage Heartache,” on July 28th, 2023. The EP includes hit singles like “Sober,” which were even featured on Spotify’s prominent New Music Country Friday playlist. This year I’ve been back to Nashville to record another 3 songs including Cowboys, which will be released June 21st 2024!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part I have been very fortunate on my path, but one of my biggest struggles to this day is being shy. Getting up to perform in front of a big crowd, or talking on a live radio show still gets me nervous sometimes!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I think what sets me apart from others is my honesty in my music. Im not afraid to show my audience who I am and what I’m going through. As a listener I’ve always appreciated when artists have such relatable, so as an artist that’s exactly what ive been trying to accomplish.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
When it comes to risk taking, I like to discuss with my family and team. I believe that your peers know you best, and they can always help you in decision making. One of my larger risks would be taking over my own management, as I’ve now graduated high school this has led me to have more time for my music. I decided that I would be taking over all of my bookings, shows, and managing my team. This was a huge risk for me because at the time I had no prior experience, but it was totally worth it. Having a hands on approach to my music has let me have much more creative freedom!
