Life & Work with Nurture The West

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nurture The West. They and their team shared their story with us below:

After our first “NTW” session in Oct. 2021 in response to a double homicide on the same street within 2 hours – DJ Bombshell teamed with DJ D’Nasti and a fellow Black business, “Creative Writing and Things” to raise vibrations for the children in the community.

Thanks to the stellar response from the community – NTW collaborated with Black businesses and Black yogis to facilitate pop-up yoga sessions in unlikely spaces throughout Westend, Louisville, KY. And now, NTW facilitates yoga sessions at Shawnee Public Library. We have grown so much within a short time span.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It is our passion project, we truly love what we do. It is amazing what two Black women can accomplish. Our only setback is the lack of funds. We want facilitators and yogis to be paid adequately. At this time, we are thankful the yogis donate their time to the cause.

We also want residents to facilitate their wellness hub within their own community. Each wellness hub fosters a sense of tribe in their community.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
DJ Bombshell – I am a three-time “Best Female DJ” winner, personality connector, advocate, and event specialist. I am known for deejaying women empowerment events for big boss ladies along with weddings, festivals, and other festivities. I love using my platform to connect people with information and resources. I am the most proud of the accomplishments and wanderlust experiences deejaying has provided me.
