Life & Work with Reformed Whores

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Cecile Anderson and Katy Frame of the musical comedy duo, Reformed Whores. Together they share their story with us below:

In 2009, we met at a mutual friend’s birthday party in Brooklyn and immediately hit it off.

Later that week, we met again for our first “band rehearsal” and the rest is history. Since then we’ve toured the country opening for the likes of Weird “Al” Yankovic, Les Claypool, Dweezil Zappa, and rockabilly vet Reverend Horton Heat.

In 2017, we made our made international debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with our critically-acclaimed show “Grand Old Cuntry.”

We’ve headlined comedy clubs across the US and have been featured on IFC, PBS, CBS, SiriusXM, Gotham Comedy Live on AXS tv, WNYC’s 2 Dope Queens Podcast, Dan Savage’s Hot Mic on Audible.com, The Huffington Post, Splitsider, The Washington Post, BUST Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Nerve.com, and Glamour Magazine.

We have over a million hits on YouTube and two comedy albums available on all streaming platforms, plus our third album called “Pissin’ In The Wind” coming out this Fall 2022! Also be sure to check out our comedy edutainment podcast Difficult Women!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No career is smooth sailing, but we’ve been very lucky with some cool opportunities.

Including doing a show with Stormy Daniels, singing on stage with Matt Stone from South Park, and opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with 20,000 people in the crowd revving their motorcycles.

We continue to have amazing experiences and are super excited to share our third album that we’ve spent the last year working on remotely with a ton of very talented female musicians.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sweetly crass and full of sass, we Reformed Whores are well known for our feminist-themed songs such as “Girls Poop Too,” “Eating Out,” and “Hey Dude! (The Mansplaining Song).”

Described as what would happen “if Dolly Parton & Flight of the Conchords got drunk and had a baby,” we expound on everything from cunnilingus to birth control to drunk dialing with Southern charisma and feminist fierceness.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Stay true to your artistic vision, keep going, and never give up!
