Life & Work with Robbie Ring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robbie Ring.

Robbie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a 22 years old professional MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter from Wytheville, Virginia. I have been doing martial arts since I was 3 years old. Both of my parents are lifelong Martial Artist, so I was raised in the dojo! I turned professional in MMA in 2021 and I am currently 4-0 with 4 1st round finishes in under a minute. I am fighting in Nashville, Tennessee August 13th, 2022 against a UFC veteran Jacob Kilburn. He is a great fighter, but he is one I have worked very hard to go against. I have been blessed to be surrounded by a great team of coaches, teammates and a super supportive fiancé by my side.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first started fighting MMA as an amateur, I was only 15 years old. The state of Virginia didn’t like the idea of minors competing in MMA at such a young age, but I was training to do this since I was a little boy. I remember my mom and I going to the general assembly in Richmond, Virginia to educate delegates all over the state of Virginia about MMA fighting so I would be able to compete. There will always be people who think MMA is the most violent thing anyone could ever do, but it is truly like any other sport. The level of respect fighters have for other fighters is unreal.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional MMA fighter and that is a sport that is very tough on your body. The training can be very tough. What sets me apart is my determination, my mindset and work ethic. Although I am 22 years old, I have been doing martial arts for close to 18 years. I have dedicated my life to the sport and I know that to reach my goals I have to work hard, and I have no problem doing that.

What’s next?
The biggest promotion to fight in the sport of MMA is the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). That has been my goal ever since I could walk. I watched UFC all the time and wanted to be just like the guys who were fighting. I am definitely on the right track to make it there. It just takes a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck!
