Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Sanders.
Hi Robin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Around freshman year of highschool, it had come down to deciding my future career. To this day, I cannot explain to you why or how I chose cosmetology but it was almost like Someone was guiding my hand as my parents and I filled out the paperwork. After finishing college, I went on to obtain my cosmetology license and from there I was attempting to figure out who I was. I made friends, married my husband, had a baby, moved around, grew clientele, moved again. During that last move, the future I envisioned for mine and my husbands lives shifted forever when our sweet daughter passed suddenly after she was born leaving us in a spiral of emotional and mental chaos. The next year after that was full of growth in many different ways, but most importantly, we both grew closer to our Savior Jesus Christ Who promises us a future with Himself and our daughter. Since then, we have had a third child, my husband has found his calling in law enforcement, and I have found a home at Highlands Hair Lounge with the best friends and coworkers I could have ever asked for. God has been so faithful to my family and I and He has shown it through the blessing of redemption, friends, two healthy children, a strong marriage, and His grace.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The passing of many of mine and my husbands family members including our daughter in 2022, moving across the state of Tennessee, attempting to push “my” vision of what I thought I wanted for my future when I should have been relying on God’s plan, provision, and sovereignty, and trying to rebuild my clientele after each move.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a hairstylist at Highlands Hair Lounge in Union City, TN and I specialize in hair and scalp health by offering customized scalp treatments, hair cutting, and hair treatments. My offered care plans and products help with a variety of needs such as, but not limited to, hair growth, thickening, scalp detoxing and balancing, and hair strengthening and restoring.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
That each and every one of my clients feel the love of Jesus when they are in my chair. Not only do I care about the health of someones scalp and hair, but I care more deeply about them knowing the love their Savior has for them. Sometimes that means sharing the gospel, but, practically, it can also mean being a helping hand when a client is unable to properly wash their hair independently or discounting a service when financial strain hits someones household or crying with them when they’ve received life-changing news.
