My Story:

From Pop Stardom to Personal Transformation

I started my career as a pop star in Croatia, achieving early success at a young age. But despite the fame, something inside me was restless. I felt an undeniable pull to explore beyond what I had known, to grow both as an artist and as a person. So, I made a bold decision—to leave everything behind and step into the unknown. It wasn’t about running away but about searching for something deeper, something more authentic.

That search took me through different cities—New York, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, and finally, Nashville. With each move, I learned that no change in location, career, or even relationships could provide the answers I was looking for. The real journey was always the one within.

The Journey Within

At every stage, creativity remained my anchor. Music, writing, and storytelling weren’t just ways to express myself; they were tools for healing and transformation. I embraced the highs and lows of life—the moments of love, loss, struggle, and renewal—and used them as fuel to create.

Through this journey, I realized that healing doesn’t come from external achievements but from doing the inner work. I had to face my fears, embrace uncertainty, and learn to be present. That shift changed everything. I no longer searched for something “better” or ‘more successful’ out there—I started finding beauty and purpose right where I was.

Finding Community and Purpose in Nashville

When I moved to Nashville, I discovered Thistle Farms, a community of women who had overcome incredible hardships. Their strength and resilience deeply inspired me. Through them, I met Ms. Clemmie Greenlee, a woman who became one of my personal heroes. She dedicates her life to helping young people escape cycles of violence, and working with her through Nashville Peacemakers changed my perspective on service and purpose.

I also became involved with Better Decisions, mentoring women in prison and later serving on the Board of Directors. This work reinforced something I had come to believe deeply—that our stories, no matter how broken they may seem, have the power to uplift and heal others.

A Life of Art and Resilience

Throughout it all, I never stopped creating. I raised my three sons on the road, touring with my music while continuing to write, record albums, publish books, and even co-found a theater. Life wasn’t always easy, but when things were difficult, I’d return to Love.

Seven years ago, I faced one of my biggest challenges—losing my husband who was also my business partner. Moving forward on my own was daunting, but my children and my community gave me the strength to continue. I poured my grief into creativity, using music and writing as a way to process, heal, and inspire others facing similar struggles.

A New Chapter: Jazz and the Future

For years, I had dreamed of immersing myself in jazz, but other projects always took priority. Recently, I finally made space for this passion, studying at the Nashville Jazz Workshop with the incredible Lori Mechem. Jazz, with its depth and spontaneity, feels like the perfect next chapter—one that challenges me to grow while honoring the legacy of the greats who came before me. One that teaches me to let go and trust myself to improvise and create more joy and play, while leaning on life’s sacred cycles and structure.

On March 21, I’ll take the stage at Rudy’s Jazz Club as part of Wendy Burns’ Ladies of Jazz Series, marking a new milestone in my musical journey. It’s a reminder that no matter where we are in life, there’s always room to evolve, to explore, and to create something meaningful.

At the heart of it all, my journey has been about embracing life in its entirety—finding joy in the process, healing through creativity, and giving back in ways that uplift others. If my story resonates with someone who’s searching for their own next step, then every part of it has been worth it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In my 30s and 40s, I struggled with waves of anxiety and depression—at a time when my life on the outside looked beautiful and perfect. I felt a deep sense of shame, as if it were all my fault. Back then, mental health wasn’t something people talked about openly, and that isolation made it even harder.

Music and writing became my lifelines, helping me process emotions rather than escape from them. Working with a therapist and later a life coach allowed me to heal past traumas, build resilience, and develop mindfulness practices that transformed my life.

I’m so grateful that today we speak more openly about mental health and work to break the stigma surrounding it. This experience motivated me to train as a life coach and use my platform to raise awareness, helping others find healing and support through my work.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My desire to become a professional musician was always motivated by a desire to connect with people and offer some inspiration. So, looking back at my music career, what I’m most proud of isn’t just the success – platinum record sales, sold-out concerts, Tajci Barbie doll (one was made by a toy factory in Croatia), awards – it’s the fact that the songs I sang 35 years ago still live one. Fans responded to the energy I put into those songs – the love, the authenticity, the optimism. They keep it alive and pass it on to the next generations. That reminds us that music isn’t just about performances it’s about connection. It’s about creating something that carries meaning far beyond the moment it was recorded or performed.

What sets me apart?

I’ve always seen music as more than entertainment = it’s a tool for healing and transformation, and even personal growth. That’s why my path naturally expended into coaching, speaking and facilitating workshops and retreats, writing/ publishing books, and creating immersive experiences that blend music with well-being. I especially love creating experiences like my wellness and music cruise in Croatia that nourish both the soul, body, mind, and heart.

At the heart of it all, my mission has always been the same – to create music and moments that uplift, inspire and remind us of the beauty of life.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is traveling with my mom, dad, and sister in our tiny red Fiat. We would take trips to visit my cousins, and along the way, we sang together—beautiful Croatian folk songs and international classics like Love Me Tender. Even though my sister and I were little, we could already harmonize, and I remember feeling pure joy at how beautiful we sounded together.

Music was always a part of our family. My dad was a musician—a singer and guitarist—my sister became a singer and flautist, and my mom sang us lullabies every night. Looking back, those car rides weren’t just about the destination; they were moments of connection, love, and the music that would shape my life forever.
