About Taylor Winston
Taylor Winston has more than 12 years of experience contributing to the development of communities and events through dance. Initially active in southern California, Winston played a key role in establishing dance events preceding amphitheater concerts. These gatherings attracted hundreds of participants dancing in parking lots. Subsequently, Winston redirected his focus towards creating the “Dancing with the Thunder” production, aligning with the Country Thunder Music Festivals in Arizona, Wisconsin, and Florida with tens of thousands of attendees. He then moved to Nashville, TN, looking for a new place to call home. After discovering Nashville Palace, he helped management build a strong dance following in the Nashville community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There is no road – we’re blazing our own trail and there are trials and tribulations around every corner. Many larger festivals that pop up are usually VERY well funded by an established company but we are a grassroots organization. The only reason we have seen any success is because of our community helping us every step of the way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Taylor Winston is a jack of all trades. Starting in the United States Marine Corps working on helicopters he then got out and worked at Sea World San Diego as a ride engineer. After that he spent time in Australia building houses and outdoor entertainment spaces. Upon returning to America he started his first business as Winston Design, building custom decor, outdoor, and indoor spaces. Along that journey he fell in love with CNC fabrication. This led him to connect and partner with one of the largest Country Music publishing companies in the country music niche’. Originally brought on for product development, he quickly showcased his marketing and social media skills within the company picking up more roles. Over time he was helping lead development of acoustic session productions to grow YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. With years of expertise and hundreds of millions of views and engagements later, he left to start 3 of his own businesses. Nashville Dance Fest is one of his core focuses. His vast skillset, expertise, and discipline in multiple fields along with his unwavering drive to succeed sets him apart from the rest. Taylor Winston is also a national hero and saved over two dozen lives by commandeering a truck during the Las Vegas shooting in 2017.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Discipline and endurance are by far the most important tools to being successful, especially when creating an entire new community from scratch with little investment… like a country dancing festival. Consistency over long periods of time without the backing of a large company makes every single day a fight for survival. You have to have the deep rooted discipline to get up every single day after being knocked down, put on your boots, and say “not only can we do this, we HAVE do this.” And then you go do it. There’s no one holding your hand to make sure it gets done, it’s up to you. Then once you fail, you get up and do it all again… and again… and again… with no promise of success.
