Today we’d like to introduce you to Terry Lee.
Hi Terry, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
On my 12th Christmas Santa put a guitar under the tree for me. That Gibson became my buddy and we spent endless time together. I jammed with friends and eventually began writing songs for a hobby, and playing small venues. Life then took turns that swirled me in and out of music for various periods of time. When three years ago I was invited to a studio to produce some of my songs. This began the turning point to release music on the streaming platforms, form a solid band, and turn it into a career.
I have now been fortunate enough to work with Dallas Jack at Spade Creative, and produce songs for a full album release. The entire experience has been an amazing adventure, and the experience I cherish the most, is the human connection with musicians, photographers, and everyone I get to interact with. Real people, writing, creating and producing music as art is an incredible gift I have been able to receive.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For me, it has been smooth and enjoyable. I would say the only drawback and struggle for me has been the amount of time I now spend on the ole laptop. Computer has never been a passion of mine, so the enjoyment of creating reels, and posting content, and all the tech that comes with this opportunity, will be handed off eventually.
As for the music creation, I find the song are out in our magnificent Universe, and when I am in flow and open to receiving, the songs come to me. It is as if I am an antenna connecting to energy that has music within it. I feel very fortunate for the gift of song writing. But as for real struggles, if this ever becomes a grind, and the fun and excitement fades, I will move on. However, I do not for see that happening. So, for now, I will enjoy the ride this adventure takes me on with a full heart, and gratitude.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I would say so far bringing the vision to real life is what I enjoy doing. When songs are in my head, it may start with a lyric, melody, and a guitar chord progression. But it evolves in my mind to include backing vocals, harmony, orchestra instruments, all the things. From there I am fortunate enough to collaborate with fantastic musicians and Spade Creative to bring these songs to life as envisioned. From there the stage performance begins to appear in my imagination, and the Universe sends me people who help create our performance and videos. It is so fun!
I think Terry Lee music is different in that my writing stays within no boundaries, and my songs fall in genres from southern rock, country, folk, and spiritual. I truly write music to bring out emotions of fun, rebellion, hope, happiness, and more.
If my songs fire someone up for a workout, helps them through a breakup, or inspires them on a path to conscious healing and self worth, then all of this is meant to be. I can also say that all of us in this process love what we do, and love creating music, and I believe it comes through in our creations.
What matters most to you? Why?
For me at this point in my life, everything I do has to be enjoyable, and in alignment with my true north. To meet resistance and grind for something not in my purpose, would feel exhausting at this point in time. It is also important for me to help other humans also align with their natural amazing talents, and realize their selfworth moving through this life. Why? Because in the end, for me it is all about the human experience of this world, and how I made a positive impact on others who I crossed paths with. To spread smiles, help others heal traumas they have endured and carried from past relations or childhood. We all have shit, and to help people unpack that shit, and move through life trusting, and believing in other humans again. In some way, I know my music helps these processes in different ways for different people.
