Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony And Emily Garmon.
Tony and Emily, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a kayak bass fishing angler. I started bass fishing in 2020 when Covid started. I was a nurse at UCLA and I was struggling to stay positive during such an emotionally draining time in my life. I started fishing the only lake around LA called lake Casitas and became a regular dock fisher. I taught myself how to fish and being new to the outdoors world I was still scared to touch fish with my bare hand so I wore gloves and everyone called my “glove girl” after a few months I transitioned into a kayak and started catching huge bass. I posted my “fish pics” online and caught a buzz. Now I am sponsored and fishing will always be my joy living in Nashville and fishin Percy Priest and Old Hickory Lake.
My husband is a country music singer songwriter. We moved to Nashville almost 4 years ago. We both became a dynamic duo in Nashville as Tony played venues people started to get to know us together. I would be front row every time Tony played filming him and being his number one fan. The relationships we built have been inspiring. We absolutely love the songwriting community and we wanted to give back.
So Tony and I decided as we were sitting at a corner booth at Live Oak (the venue we now host a show) that I could host an outdoors inspired songwriter round. It would promote the outdoors but also engage a new audience for our songwriters. We called it “Reelin Hooks”
On our stage we ask our songwriters to submit a photo of them enjoying the outdoors and we use that photo on main screen under their name when they play. We do this to unite everyone as outdoorsmen and women.
The engagement we have had from guests and songwriters involve have all been positive. We hope to grow more this year as we have only had two shows so far.
It’s awesome being able to combine my passion with my husband’s and work together as a team to bring people together.
