Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyron Carter.
Hi Tyron, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I am originally from Richmond, Ca. I am the oldest of four and the only boy. I began my ministry journey at an early age. I was baptized at 7 years old and also began to start playing the drums for my home church (Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church Richmond, CA) at that age. I never took drum lessons but was given a gift from God to play by ear. I also sung in the children’s choir, was a Jr. deacon, and on the youth usher board lol, I believe being a Jr deacon really was the role that was foundation and preparation for where I am today, as a Jr deacon I would help clean the church, go out on 1st Sundays before church to serve communion to the elderly and those who were ill and couldn’t come to church. I would have to open service in prayer sometimes and do other tasks for the church. Growing up I always felt that I would be a pastor just not a young age. I grew up playing baseball and basketball. I thought one of those would’ve been my ticket to life. I would travel playing sports, it was through sports that I was able to travel our nation at a young age. I thought I would go to the major leagues and once I retired, I would possibly become a pastor but God had other plans. When I became a teenager I joined another local ministry by the name of Greater St. Paul, where I was introduced to the ministry of Bishop Paul S. Morton and the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship. I moved to Atlanta shortly after high school for college, where I also began to serve Bishop Paul Morton and Debra B Morton (Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church Atlanta, which is now known as Changing A Generation Full Gospel Baptist Church. It was here that my ministry as a minister of the gospel began. I was licensed in 2010. Here I began volunteering for the church where it ended up being hired to work full time. I served as bookstore manager, armor-bearer, choir, and Pastor of Young Adults. At the same time, I was working for PJ Morton (Bishop Morton’s son) as his road manager (2009-2013). In the summer of 2013, I received a call from Bishop Joseph W. Walker’s office here in Nashville, TN. Asking if I would relocate to Nashville to work and serve at Mt. Zion Baptist Church as Bishop Walker’s first assistant. I relocated in August 2013, and began serving as Bishop Walker’s 1st assistant and also Pastor of Young Adults. It was here at Mt. Zion that I became sure of my calling to pastor. I received my Masters of Divinity during this time as well. In July of 2017, I relocated back home to launch Wellspring Worship Center. I served there until October 2021. I relocated back to Nashville, TN in October 2021, to become Lead Pastor of All Nations Worship Assembly of Nashville under the leadership of Apostle Matthew Stevenson III. We are beginning our weekly Sunday services April 3, 2022, at 3 pm CST.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. I have had many challenges. From losing family members, friends. During my pastorate in California. Covid 19 began. The membership of the church went from 150 members to 30 in the matter of months due to people losing their jobs and having to relocate out of California. I also went through a divorce during this time which really bothered me emotionally and mentally. I also contracted covid 19 and was down for two weeks. Ministry requires a lot of sacrifice. Even before I began to pastor full time, there were a lot of sacrifices that had to be made. There were many more sacrifices throughout my ministry journey, disappointments, struggles, etc.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am Pastor, mentor, Life Strategist, and entrepreneur.
I am most proud of my daughter and that I didn’t quit when life’s challenges arose.
My life’s mission is help people unlock their best self. Regardless of what stage of life they are in or their profession.
What’s next?
My plans is to really help restore the community’s hope back in the church by leading the way in our communities. By also providing resources, spaces for real-life conversations, and having a great impact on the greater Nashville area. While showcasing that there are many routes for success for black and brown individuals.
I am looking forward to embracing and showcasing my gifts that God has given me by launching my personal development-focused brand.
