Today we’d like to introduce you to Viridiana De Leon.
Hi Viridiana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello, my name is Viridiana Deleon I am 29 years old and a mama of two littles. I am a Latina entrepreneur and feminist living in Nashville. My parents immigrated to this country directly to Nashville, TN in 1996 in search of better educational opportunities for their children. I grew up in Madison, TN, and graduated from Hunters Lane High School, a metro school, in 2012.
A few years later, I was able to attend Trevecca Nazarene’s adult studies program and obtain an associate’s degree in business management. Since then in 2018, I started my own business and opened up a bilingual independent insurance agency that focuses on casualty lines and providing our underrepresented communities with insurance services. Being a young Latina in business, I faced many challenges at the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey but the one that sticks out the most is the lack of support and community.
In 2021, I started Nash Latina Bosses on Instagram in hopes of building that community amongst our Latina entrepreneurs. Surely enough it boomed and I started getting amazing feedback from everyone. I have since started hosting events where Latinas can come to network and make new connections to expand their circle. It has been a success because the need is ever so present in Nashville. I am so excited to further expand this community and see our people flourish and create the life of their dreams!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not the Latino community can be very isolating and competitive.
It has been a great struggle trying to overcome this mentality but it is happening! The beginning of my entrepreneur journey was very lonely but now I can say I have a whole tribe of women rooting for me and my business!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am most known in Nashville for being the founder of Nash Latina Bosses, a community of Latinas in Nashville. I curate events where Latinas feel welcome and leave encouraged to pursue their entrepreneurial journey or simply just to make new friends who share similar cultural experiences and language.
I am so proud of the community we are building together in Nashville it makes me so excited for my daughter to grow up in a more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming Nashville.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Seeing other women succeed!
