Life & Work with Weston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Weston.

Hi Weston, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Hello there. My name is Weston. I’m a Hip Hop artist from Canton, Ohio. Currently residing in Nashville, TN – making music and living life!

I started rapping at around 16. Freestyling with my friends and loving the reaction from them when I actually hit a cool flow or said a good rhyme. After a science project I rapped for in school (lol), a friend was like “You really need to get a microphone and record.” So, I started doing that! My friends and I pitched in and bought a microphone and I started recording in my mom’s unfinished basement (awful acoustics but soooo fun). It was the first thing I really learned to put effort into as a kid. I was never super good at much before that – I really learned to apply myself in that. From there I knew I wanted to keep pursuing music. I definitely was the kid passing out mixtapes at school for a while – very fun times haha.

I decided to join the military after highschool so that’s what I did for the next 4 years. I had a recording booth in the closet of my room and would constantly be in there after work rapping! Loved those days foreal. After the military, I moved to Nashville to keep making music. My cousin Don Bates lived in town and encouraged me to come here to make music together. Since then, I’ve been chiseling away and playing shows. I absolutely love the community of people I’ve found here. So many talented, kind people. A long way to go but I’ve never been happier to be where I’m at!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t change the road I’ve been on for anything. Life isn’t always easy but I’ve always felt fortunate to receive the opportunities and support I’ve gotten. Honestly, the majority of my obstacles come from

myself. Just getting in my head and overthinking and analyzing too much. I will say I’ve worked really hard to get where I’m at and have learned a lot of lessons along the way!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love rapping and making beats. Over the last couple years, I’ve gotten way more acquainted with recording and engineering and am really starting to enjoy that element of making music as well. I would say I’m known for freestyling and performing my music. I always get so much joy from getting a rise out of people when I’m performing and freestyling! It really gets me high on life.

What else you should know about me – ah yes. I’m wicked into making tea lately. Peach sweet tea?? Wow.

Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to keep making and improving my music and connecting and collaborating with people more (if you want a verse hit me uppppp! haha)! Also want to simultaneously learn to enjoy my life in the present moment and not get too ahead of myself. The big plan is to find a healthy balance of pursuing my goals and enjoying and appreciating the life infront of me!! Also planning on releasing some summer boppppps my boy!
