Life & Work with Zach Lockwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Lockwood. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Zach Lockwood is a Folk/Pop solo artist with a sound similar to John Mayer, Keith Urban, and Ed Sheeran. Zach has worked and written with members of Bob Marley’s band The Wailers, Florida Georgia Line, Big & Rich, Walker Hayes, Nora Collins, and G Love and Special Sauce.

Zach Lockwood is a Folk/Pop solo artist from Old Lyme, Connecticut, and has called Nashville home since 2011. “I moved to Nashville, to pursue the dream and break boundaries, there is no better place in the world to be a songwriter.” Zach is a household name in writing circles, known for his fun, upbeat style, and exceptional vocals. “Performing in Nashville is an extraordinary platform to play. My favorite moments are experiencing positive reactions to original music while on stage.”

Zach’s sound has and is ever-evolving and is recognized as one of the brightest new talents in town. Mixing all styles and genres, his sound is uniquely eclectic. Zach’s songs and performances are always high energy and his songwriting covers his passions climate change, weed legalization, and mental health. The importance of weed legalization is very important to me. I have used it as a tool to treat depression, ADD & anxiety. If used correctly it can spark great creativity. I consider it a tool rather than a drug.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am passionate about so many genres of music…. reggae, country, pop, folk, sometimes it’s hard to pick a lane for my sound. I have encompassed these passions into a sound that is my signature flavor.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a folk/pop singer-songwriter based in Nashville. I specialize in making people feel good about themselves with my music and stage presence.

I am proud that I am continuing to pursue my passion every day and exploring new avenues to share my music. Playing live music every day as my career is something I don’t take for granted, even if it’s a room of people or just one person.

What sets me apart from others as an artist is that I write what makes me feel good. My lyrical strength draws from my elders and understanding the storytelling importance of country music. I’ve been fortunate to have written with Casey Beathard, Florida Georgia Line, and Big & Rich.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next few years, I think Nashville will be taken over by aliens and I will be the president. Just kidding… I think more artists will continue to own their own clubs to highlight music that reflects their taste. A greater importance will be placed on sharing live experiences in a digital way, which is frustrating because you want your performance shared but not seeing phones held up the whole time.
