Madison Slandzicki on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Madison Slandzicki and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Madison, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Lately, my heart’s been full! My son’s speech has been developing so fast recently, and I absolutely LOVE watching him grow into this sweetest little kid. And just this week, my daughter said ‘mama’ for the first time!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Baking has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl, and turning that love into a small cake business has been a dream come true. I specialize in creating custom wedding cakes and desserts, working closely with couples to bring their sweetest visions to life on their big day. There’s something so special about being a part of such meaningful moments, and I pour my heart into every design and bite. Right now, we’re working on our new cake and dessert cart for events—an interactive and charming addition to our services!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I started my business when I was just 22, fueled by passion, determination, and a whole lot of coffee. Those early days were filled with long hours—late nights baking, early mornings delivering, and constantly learning as I went. It was exhausting at times, but looking back, I see how empowering that season was. It pushed me beyond my comfort zone, taught me resilience, and showed me what I’m truly capable of. Building something from the ground up at that age shaped not only my business, but the person I’ve become.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
The first two years of running my business were some of the most challenging of my life. I was getting married and stepping into a whole new chapter personally, all while trying to build and manage a business from the ground up. Juggling both was incredibly overwhelming—I put so much pressure on myself to do it all and tried to handle everything on my own. Looking back, I realize how much I was carrying and how important it is to ask for help and give yourself grace. That season taught me a lot about balance, boundaries, and the strength it takes to grow through chaos.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would say that my kids and my husband mean absolutely everything to me—they’re the heart behind everything I do. As much as I love running my business and bringing sweet visions to life, nothing compares to the joy of being present with my family. Finding that balance between work and home life hasn’t always been easy, but it’s something I constantly work at. I’ve learned to set boundaries, celebrate the small moments, and remind myself that success isn’t just measured in business growth, but in the love and laughter that fill my home.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
In high school, I was encouraged to follow the traditional path—go to college and aim for a “normal” 9-to-5 job. But I knew deep down that I craved a creative outlet, something that truly sparked my passion. Halfway through college, I made the bold decision to change course and enroll in culinary school. It was a turning point that allowed me to pursue what I love and build a career that feels authentic and fulfilling.
