Today we’d like to introduce you to Abigail Breslin and Emily Bache.
Hi Abigail and Emily, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We met 22 years ago in a small town just outside of Boston. It was the early 2000s, so fashion was in a tragic state. Rather than “fitting in” by wearing LL Bean or Polo, we bonded over the appreciation of wild attire and standing out. Fast forward a few years, we realized we applied to completely different colleges. We were worried not only for our inseparable friendship, but also for our shared wardrobe. We heard about blogging and decided to create one together as a way to keep in touch about our closets that would soon be reunited. After graduating college, we were both living in New York City and wanted to take the blog to the next level. We hastily threw ourselves into the industry by covering 65 shows at our first New York Fashion Week. Aside from some serious pain from running around in 5-inch heels all week, our handbags were full of business cards and new contacts. We had made a name for ourselves in the city and began getting hired as stylists solely based on our blog. Within one year, we formed a company specializing in blogging and wardrobe styling.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
After moving from New York City to Nashville in 2017, we enjoyed continuing our work in a new city. Like so many others, we found ourselves a bit lost in 2020 due to the global pandemic. Our styling and blogging work were scarce and we needed to find a way to stay creative and explore new ways of bringing in revenue. For years, a dream of ours was to do a design collaboration. Fate came knocking in the form of a DM on Instagram from a jewelry designer called Amato Style. We formed a shared appreciation for each other’s work and began discussing design and concept ideas via Zoom. Here we are in 2022 about to release Amato Style x WanderLust Girls, a collection of pieces inspired by the need to wear daily armor while conveying both strength and sensuousness. Needless to say, we’ve always believed obstacles can create opportunities.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As bloggers, we’ve had the opportunity to work with major brands such as Verizon, Royal Caribbean, Macy’s, Shopbop, etc. As stylists we’ve had the honor of working for notable names such as Playboy, Bloomingdale’s, Major League Soccer, Elizabeth Arden, Macklemore, Jack White, etc. Our work is known to be statement making. We see fashion as a form of expressing personality. The bolder the better!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The fashion industry is ever-changing, especially thanks to digital media. It’s exciting not knowing for sure what’s coming, and we’ve enjoyed evolving as the years go by.
