Meet Abigail Fierce

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abigail Fierce.

Hi Abigail, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Abigail Fierce, an LGBT singer-songwriter and actress based out of Los Angeles and Nashville concurrently. My music is available on all streaming platforms. I’m also an actress. I play a recurring character on Hulu’s “Love, Victor,” Netflix’s “American Vandal,” and was a series regular on the Facebook Watch series “The Set-Up” created by mega-influencer Hannah Stocking. Most recently, I was a guest star on the final season of NBC’s “This Is Us.” Currently, I am slated to be in the Lebron James produced film “Fantasy Football” for Paramount+ and Nickelodeon. The film also stars Kelly Rowland (of Destiny’s Child), Marsai Martin (ABC’s Black-ish), and Omari Hardwick (Starz’s Power). I love writing songs at 4 am, and I play all of the instruments on my tracks, except for drums.

MY STORY:
I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. When I would tell my parents that I wanted to be an actor, they would say to me, “It’s pronounced doctor!” But my mom and I moved to Los Angeles, California, when I was 13 to pursue an acting career. Both of my parents are in the science field, and we had periodic table placemats growing up. Music was not a thing in our house. It started with Hannah Montana when I was a kid, and then I started listening to everything from folk to grunge and alternative rock. I’ve always loved to write, but I started writing music in middle school because I didn’t have many friends. I think it was a way for me to control my narrative when I felt like I didn’t have much control over the things happening to me or around me. In the 7th grade, I performed in a talent show, and some girls laughed at me. I remember crying in the school bathroom when lyrics just started to appear in my mind. I went home and started writing my first song. I’ve always been a bit of a loner, so it was nice to have something to just dive into finally. I started making trips to Nashville to perform when I was 16.

Some of my songs are singer-songwriter indie pop, and some are alternative rock/pop-punk. Lyrics are the most important part of any song, so I love music that tells a story no matter what the genre is. I listen to a wide variety of genres, so I think it only makes sense that my creativity would also come out in a wide variety of genres.
My most recent song, “I Miss You,” is about missing an ex but still being able to acknowledge that the relationship wasn’t all good, and it’s probably for the best that you both move on. It took a long time in the studio to get this song to sound exactly how I wanted it to. But I must’ve done something right because it landed on 5 Spotify Editorial playlists, a dream come true for an indie artist. I chose to use longing electric guitar riffs to convey the level of yearning that can only accompany a first love.

I’m a perfectionist, so I love being hands-on in the studio. I pay a lot of attention to detail, and I spend a lot of time tweaking and adding each layer until I’m happy with the track. I loved messing with all of the gritty guitar tones, and my fingers bled in the studio while playing bass for my track “Scream It to the Whole World.” “Scream It to the Whole World” was my coming out the anthem and is my favorite song that I’ve ever released.
I also love writing songs from other people’s perspectives. I wrote “Love You Right” from the perspective of a character I played in a TV show. My next single, “Shallow Love,” is written from the perspective of a friend of mine. “Shallow Love” will be available on all streaming platforms on June 24th, 2022! We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been some bumps in the road. I booked a job in an episode of a huge HBO series, but the scene got cut. Things like that happen all the time, and sometimes it’s hard to remain positive, but you have to try. As for music, it took me a long time to figure out what I wanted my sound to be. But now that I play all the instruments on my tracks, I’m the one that’s in charge of the studio. I can play around and tweak things until they reflect the idea I had in my head.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us more about your work?

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mother! She’s my best friend, and we spend a lot of time together. She drove me to auditions and performances my whole life, and I wouldn’t be here without her support, advice, and love.
