Meet Adam Carter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Carter.

Adam, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started playing guitar at the age of 7. My dad plays and that’s how I got into it. Both, my mom and dad, listened to a wide variety of music. Country, Rock, Blues, etc. They took me to a lot of concerts growing up like BB King, Eric Clapton, John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers, and many more. I’d have to say the two most pivotal were a Buddy Guy concert around 7 years old and a Billy Joe Shaver concert at 14. Buddy got me on stage and let me play the two chords I knew and sing “I’m a Lover” in the microphone. That’s what made me want to really practice and learn. Next was Shaver. I went to see Billy Joe play at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA that summer. Billy Joe was a very approachable person. We parked in the parking lot behind the venue and who do we see walking right in the front door by himself?? Billy Joe Shaver! So, we walk up to him, get to talking, and the next thing I know he’s asking me to sit in. That night established my first real working relationship in the music business and from that point forward I’ve been blessed to make a lot of music with a lot of great musicians along the way. I’m now living in Nashville and playing every week at a lot of places all over town. Life is great!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Getting started to me is always the hardest part. Finding people that believe in what you’re doing enough to help you even when you haven’t really done anything yet. It’s hard to sell a product that is still in the preliminary stages.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. I blend a unique style of country, rock, pop, and blues music.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am actually a pretty reserved person. It’s very hard for me to be a spotlight guy!
