Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Soler.
Hi Alexis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been in the industry since I was 17. I got hired as a bartender at a club in Miami, my hometown, with no experience, (which I may have fudged on the interview, I think they knew it.) The moment I stepped behind a bar I fell in love with the industry and knew it was something I was meant to pursue. I worked for many years in different places through years of trying out college, other professional avenues, and adventuring but soon was hired at a local lounge that helped formulate who I am and how I got to where I am today, Dan Binkiewicz and John Lermayer played a mentorship roll in my life that grounded me and set me free to explore my own talents and creativity.
I moved to Nashville in 2010 I opened my first bar, No. 308, financed my Dan, and partnered w Ben Clemons. The bar was a high-volume party bar that served elevated cocktails and featured house-made sodas. My second project Old Glory with my sister Britt Soler is in a boiler room from the 1930s. The space itself is really impressive as we wanted to integrate it into the existing architecture instead of changing it. I call her my golden child.
My third project was with a friend from Miami Angela Laino which I share a long rich history. Flamingo Cocktail Club with adjoining Falcon Coffee Bar is a product of just that. Inside what was an old church the coffee shop is plant-based and delicious! And Flamingo is my wild child. She is always fun and has a lot of energy to go around. If you love to dance this is your spot.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing good comes without lots of opportunities to grow. I am thankful for all of the struggles we have faced because I am now a better business owner, boss, and partner.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Over time my role has evolved. Right now I am really into design and also elevating the employee experience. My goal is to inspire people to want to work smarter and lead with kindness.
What matters most to you? Why?
People. I wouldn’t be me without them. I owe everything to my incredible teams.
