Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Manning-Carroll.
Hi Allison, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a kid, I always knew that I wanted to be a lawyer. My aunt was a longtime public defender in Nashville, I always thought I would follow her steps and become a criminal trial attorney. But when I graduated from law school and began to practice law, I became interested in other practice areas. After spending a few years representing a large corporation, I decided to start my own practice and focus on working with small businesses and early-state startups so that these small companies can also have access to quality legal services for a fraction of the cost of working with big law firms. In 2019, I opened Manning Carroll Law, where I am the Founder and Managing Attorney.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Many of the struggles I experienced were related to time management, keeping up with the firm’s growth, and handling the pressure of leading a growing company and the responsibility that comes with that.

Manning Carroll Law is a modern law firm for early-stage startups and small businesses. We provide general counsel services to founders and their companies from entity formation through exit. Our primary areas are entity formations and corporate structuring, partnership agreements, investor relations, contracts, intellectual property, and general legal risk management. We also represent individuals buying or selling companies. Out firm is different from most law firms because we charge a flat rate for our services so that our clients know what their legal costs are from the beginning. We work with a lot of first-time business owners, and I love getting to work with founders at ground zero and watch their companies grow.
