Meet Allison Odhner of Bach to Basic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Odhner. 

Hi Allison, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I never knew I wanted to be an event planner! I worked for a nonprofit where I worked closely with the Director of Development on fundraising events and loved it. From there, I took a corporate job at The Boston Consulting Group in Philadelphia planning larger-scale events for the company. In 2016, I got married and the only thing I wanted nothing to do with was my bachelorette party! I had planned all my friends and was planning the wedding and wanted an event where I could show up and have a good time without the stress and coordination. I realized what an undertaking bachelorette party planning was for someone who did not do it as their profession, like it, or have time. I did the research and all-inclusive bachelorette party planning did not exist – so I started it! Since then, we’ve been featured in prominent press, planned events for noteworthy clients, and have set industry standards. We have grown tremendously in the last 5 and a half years, planned in over 80 destinations, and have had a ton of fun doing it. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been smooth! Covid of course took a toll on our business quite a bit and 2020 provided a big setback to the business. We rescheduled or cancelled around 75% of our events in 2020. Since then, we have come back with a vengeance! 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Bach to Basic is a luxury all-inclusive bachelor and bachelorette party planning business. We plan events in any destination – domestically and internationally. Bach to Basic was founded in 2016. We are the original bachelorette party planners! We coordinate and book accommodations, meals (catered in, dining out, private chefs, etc.!), activities, decorations, decor setup, transportation throughout the weekend, and more! We take your ideas, work in a little magic of our own and bring your vision to life. In addition to all-inclusive remote event planning services, we also offer onsite concierge services, as well as logo and branding. 

We focus on providing new and unique experiences for brides, grooms, and the people they love most to create lifetime memories and celebrate one another. The foundation of this business lies in bringing people together in the name of love and travel! 

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Work hard. Know your worth! Be open to change. We have come a long way since the opening of Bach to Basic and have worked extremely hard to get to where we are and appreciate every moment of the journey.
