Today we’d like to introduce you to Ambur And Kyleigh LaTourrette / Ballard.
Hi Ambur and Kyleigh, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hello! My name is Ambur and my career in the beauty industry started way back in 1999. I went to beauty school in the small town I grew up in of Palestine Texas. I was 18 years old and so eager to begin my “adult life”. That was the most exciting time of my life up until that point. After graduating beauty school I worked at a salon called Shear perfection that was owned by my beauty school instructor. I embraced everyday I was there learning and absorbing all I could from everyone I came in contact with. I continued to do hair for almost 10 years in my home town before relocating to Ft Worth Texas. Ft worth was a much bigger city and had so many more opportunities that I ever thought possible. I continued to embrace every door that was made available to me. I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone to elevate my skill set daily. I met and married my husband Shiloh while there and due to my husband being in the military we again relocated our family to Clarksville TN due to the unwavering commitment my husband made to the military. We have loved it here from day one. I have 2 daughters Kyleigh and Korlyn and they have both grown up learning all about the beauty industry. They have loved it. We have dreamed about working together and owning a salon for many years. My oldest daughter is an esthetician and my youngest daughter is currently in beauty school. Late last year we decided as a family that we would push forward and make effects for our dreams to come true. I purchased a salon in January of this year with that very goal in mind. I felt like this was an amazing opportunity for me to have a platform to be able to teach and guide my daughters to be the best version of themself possible . My oldest daughter Kyleigh and myself work together daily side by side and embrace all the challenges and hurdles that come our way as business owners. My youngest daughter helps out as much as she can and will join our team when she finishes school next summer. We have a very talented and amazing team of 8 that we get to collaborate and grow with daily. We feel so blessed to have the opportunity to learn and grow together. We look forward to many more years in this fascinating town to be as part of such a rewarding industry.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road was and always has been an adventure to me. I don’t feel it has been rough. There have been challenging times but nothing that I was never able to overcome. I am a social butterfly and learned very early in life that just a simple act of kindness and having compassion for other humans not only can open doors you don’t realize are available but having the opportunity to be an example for my daughters to grab the bull by the horns has been the most rewarding part of it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a hairstylist by trade. I get to make people feel heard, understood and beautiful every single day. I try not to box myself in by “specializing in any one platform, however my favorite thing to do is haircuts. I strive to learn something new with every haircut I do. I follow as many platforms and educational outlets as I can daily and never shy away from trying something new or think outside the box. Anytime I feel butterflies from reaching beyond my normal I stand tall and embrace that feeling. While failure is something I don’t want I know that being in that state means I’m growing and evolving. I do my best to enact that and focus on the overall goal that I strive for. I am most proud of my daughters. I’m thankful that my love for this industry has inspired my girls to strive for that same success in their life..
How do you think about luck?
Luck good or bad is really what makes this world go around.. And weather it’s luck or timing it’s hard to tell which was the gateway for adventures and experiences I have had throughout my career.
