Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Anderson.
Andrea, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started selling cars in 2012 because of a bet with my dad. I was living in the mountains, and the jobs were very limited. I had some experience in sales in other industries and jumped right in to prove my dad wrong. Thankful for that bet with my father because it has brought so many amazing opportunities. We moved to Nashville in 2015, and I tried other gigs and was always pulled back to Car Sales.
In 2017 I started working at Andrews Cadillac and it instantly felt like home. Its family owned and an amazing place to work and do business. Car Sales is typically a “man’s world” and for 12 years I’ve been proving that stigma wrong. I love making the experience of buying a car fun, enjoyable, smooth and seamless. I always hear “wow that wasn’t terrible”. I know that people don’t usually think highly of a car salesperson, and I use that as an opportunity to show them it can be different.
Last year I finished #2 in Cadillac sales for the Southeast Region (10 states) and this year has been even better!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Car sales is normally a male dominated field – so yes it has been quite the interesting journey. In the past certain coworkers would say things and try to make me feel uncomfortable so I would quit. I always used that as fuel to stay focused and keep working harder. It didn’t make me want to quit it only inspired me to work even harder.
In 2018 I was pregnant with my son and during my ultrasound they found bladder cancer and 4 days later had surgery while pregnant. They found a softball size tumor in my bladder. Since then, I have had surgeries, chemo in my bladder and other scopes. My son is 7 now and thriving. It always gives me the reminder to be thankful for my health and to make the most of everything.
It also gives me grace when dealing with others because you never know what others are going through. From the outside I look like a healthy, strong 40-year-old – people would never guess I have cancer and it’s something that I go through every few months. Being able to experience life is amazing even the “hard” times.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I sell cars for Andrews Cadillac and have been here since 2017. I have a reputation for being direct, knowledgeable about Cadillac, efficient, great with communication, making the process fun and seamless. I am proud of having amazing clients that buy cars from me, refer me to others and trust me to make it happen for them.
What sets me a part is I use social media to teach people how to negotiate car deals, things to watch out for when buying a car and other entertaining videos that show more of the car business.
