Meet Andrew Grayson of Six Pack Coverage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Grayson.

Hi Andrew, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I started Six Pack Coverage during the COVID-19 pandemic while living at my parents’ house. It wasn’t exactly the “perfect” time to start a business but that fueled my desire to want to try even more. I converted the 4×4 closet in my childhood bedroom into an “office” while simultaneously enrolled in a Master’s Program. Coming from a strong healthcare background with zero business knowledge, I was aware of the challenges I was about to embrace. Through months of little sleep and a slight caffeine addiction, I started from the ground up, from designing a website, learning to advertise, nonstop emails and phone calls, and most importantly a few great friends constantly encouraging me. From operating in a 4×4 closet in my parents’ house to upgrading to now my garage in Nashville, we are quickly gaining traction and have no plans to take our foot off the gas. Currently, we reach over 45,000 people across our platforms and I’m blessed to have the greatest team I could ever ask for. We have 245 student interns across 34 college campuses and 31 employees for Six Pack Coverage.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The last 20 months building Six Pack Coverage has been anything but a smooth road, but in a strange way, that is why the constant 14-hour days are worth it. Some of the biggest struggles I have faced are developing a team that understands the Six Pack vision and would want to assist in building a company knowing they will not get paid immediately. Another struggle that I have faced since Day 1 is funding/income. Trying to develop a plan on how to allocate funds when you are not bringing in any income and the constant internal battle of “is it worth more of my time and money to continue pursuing this dream”

As you know, we’re big fans of Six Pack Coverage. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Six Pack Coverage is a multimedia company that focuses on the Six most important aspects of life: Sports, Finance, Fitness, Food/Travel, Entertainment, and College. Through each of these pillars we have built a team dedicated to providing our audience with articles, podcasts, blogs, videos, interviews, and more. We have a variety of professional athletes, social media influencers, and respected writers that provide with you genuine and honest news and advice.

What sets us apart from other companies is that we don’t cater to a specific demographic or audience, there is no hidden political agenda, and we cover more than just one standard topic. We want our audience to learn and better themselves from our website whether that is a college student or a retired man/woman. There is something for everyone at Six Pack Coverage.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice would be find a mentor that has succeeded in a field similar to what you are striving for and listen to every word they say. I did not have a mentor while starting this company and I still don’t, but I have become obsessed with reading and listening to podcasts of entrepreneurs to understand what has worked and failed for them and try to apply those lessons to my own. Business for me has been a constant battle of succeeding and failing every single day. In order to succeed you must fail, and I welcome failure like a cold beer (ha). I have a very dedicated VP, (Nick), best friend, (Ian), as well as my grandfather that have all three been a huge part of the success at Six Pack Coverage.

My networking approach is very unique. I don’t go out often, but when I do, I make it worth my time.

I bring 25 of my business cards if I am going to a bar/restaurant etc. and I judge whether my night was successful or not by if I give out all 25 cards. Networking is a large component of business and personally, I’m not interested in going to clubs and drinking excessively each weekend like most young adults in Nashville. For me, if I am going out, I want to meet individuals who are like-minded and have a similar work ethic as myself to create and build relationships that can better ourselves.
