Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Hart.
Hi Angela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Idaho, and my first big risk was moving to Nashville at 18 — for a guy, of course (a musician, so cliché!) — and enrolling at Belmont. I earned my journalism degree there and started my professional life in the music industry as a publicist.
I loved the thrill of it all — attending the Grammys, traveling to New York City for the first time, and being immersed in the glamour. But over time I realized I wanted to invest myself in a career that felt deeper and more meaningful.
I’ve always been an old soul — the friend people turned to for ‘deep talks’ even when I was young — so counseling felt like a natural path. Wanting to return to the Northwest, I moved to Seattle to attend The Seattle School graduate program, where I studied existential therapy. I was fascinated by questions of meaning, death anxiety, and what it really means to be human.
Eventually, Nashville drew me back, and within a few years I started my own private practice here. What began as a career has truly felt like a calling. I’m continually grateful for the privilege of sitting with people in their most honest, vulnerable moments, and for the inside look it gives me into the complexity — and resilience — of human nature.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not smooth at all! When I first started my practice, I was green and a little naïve — probably in the best way, because I’m not sure I’d have the courage to take that kind of risk now. At the same time, I was going through a hard season of my own, so putting myself out there to build referral relationships felt a little like pitching a song that lived more in my head than on paper. But that season taught me resilience. It stretched me to grow into the role and reminded me that vulnerability and authenticity connect us far more than polished perfection ever could.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Angela Hart LPC, private practice?
My private practice is all about creating a space where people can bring their full, unedited selves. I specialize in trauma recovery and relational issues, as well as existential therapy — which means I work with people on the big questions of meaning, identity, anxiety, and how we make sense of our lives.
What sets me apart is that I don’t see therapy as fixing people. I see it as walking alongside them as they rediscover their resilience and wisdom. Clients often tell me I balance depth with warmth and humor — we can sit with life’s hardest things, but we can also laugh together along the way.
Brand-wise, I’m proud that my practice has grown almost entirely by word of mouth. That feels like the highest compliment: that people not only trust me with their stories, but also encourage others to step into this work. What I’d want readers to know is that therapy isn’t just for crisis — it’s for anyone who wants to live more fully, understand themselves more deeply, and feel less alone in what they’re carrying.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Throughout my life I’ve had a handful of mentors who felt more like sherpas — guiding me not just professionally, but in how to grow in maturity and depth. I carry the voice of a former therapist with me still; his influence has made me a better counselor and a better human.
And of course, my clients are among my greatest teachers. They remind me never to get too comfortable in my first impressions, because people are endlessly complex. They challenge me, surprise me, and inspire me with their resilience and the creative ways they find to keep going. It’s a privilege to learn from them every day.
