Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Love.
Hi Angela, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello! I’m Angela and I am originally from Memphis, TN. I came to Nashville by way of Tennessee State University. Fast forward to years later, I created my own hair oil due to not being able to find proper products for my hair type. I always struggled with dry hair all while neglecting to educate myself on appropriate hair education. I literally used Royal crown hair grease for everything! I eventually got tired of my scalp woes and went to search for a solution. Then shortly after, Belle of Hair was born! Once I created the hair oil, I branched off into the skin realm as well. My products help remedy hair and skincare ailments all while providing self-care solutions.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road lol. I started my business at the cusp of covid. It was literally like walking into the unknown across the board. There were so many canceled events and limited reach to people as we were going through a worldwide pandemic. Entrepreneurship is truly a journey and you learn as you go. You definitely learn quickly to celebrate your wins whether they are small or big. I’m introverted so I had to learn that you can’t be quiet and run a business. I’ve definitely stepped out of my comfort zone but it’s making me better overall. So, I wouldn’t call them struggles. Instead, I would classify them as required experiences.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently work in the financial services sector. My educational background is in counseling psychology. Even though I am not working in that field currently, I can apply my educational experiences to a lot of jobs ideally. I would have to say that I am always proud of my drive and desire for wanting the most out of life. I’m always striving for new peaks and feats. I feel as if we can have anything we want if we want it bad enough. I don’t know what sets me apart from others because I’m only trying to be the best version of myself.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The advice I would give people starting out in terms of starting a business would be to do your own research. You can download all of the courses you want, but it’s YOU who will make your business work. I wish I would have been more privy to the things that’s not really talked about initially, such as brand awareness, marketing, or social connections. But in entrepreneurship, you’re really learning in real-time. I’m still starting out myself so I’m constantly trying to learn new ways of bettering my brand.
