Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Chowning.
Hi Anna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2020 i became a mama of two and i had a severe case of “fear of missing out” on their childhood. In other words, I wanted to be a stay at home mom. I went part time at my fabulous 9-5 job after my husband encouraged me. But like many others, I needed to stay busy and if I could make a little money to help support my family, that’s even more of a plus. So that’s when I tossed the idea to grow strawberries. My husband is a farmer and we bought a piece of land back in 2017. So we did some research and came up with a plan. We planted less than half an acre of strawberries our first year, I was nervous it wouldn’t work out. But we had a great crop! So each year we’ve added more and more. We have built a little strawberry barn on our farm where we sell the strawberries and things we make with the strawberries… like slushies!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Anything farming related is not a smooth road.. haha. There’s several things out of our control, like the weather. We pray a lot, do our best and try not to worry. It’s in God’s hands.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
U-Pick! We love when families come to the farm and see first hand where their food comes from! It becomes a tradition that several families continue year after year. That’s what it’s all about. Strawberries will bring a smile to people’s faces, regardless of age.
We offer strawberry delivery! This works well for businesses that want to treat their employees to fresh strawberries, or even businesses that want us to set up to sell on break times.
Our season is typically May through mid June. We are open 7 days a week. But always check our socials or give us a call to confirm availability!
We have also started to branch out to local farmers markets, White House, Goodlettsville & 12 South in Nashville!
Pricing:
- Pick your own quart of strawberries for $5, or we can pick it for $6!
