Meet Anna Hamilton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Hamilton.

Hi Anna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in small-town Kansas and began writing songs as early as 8 years old. I remember running around and singing them all over the house as my siblings were trying to study…Which I’m sure they LOVED… I knew I wanted to be an artist but also knew that would require a lot of sacrifices- moving cities and leaving my parents and 11 siblings behind. But with sacrifice comes growth.

Since moving to Nashville, I’ve had the chance to fully dive into the writing world. Focusing on writing for other artists and sync projects have paved the way for finding my sound as an artist. I’ve spent a lot of time writing alone and keeping my thoughts precious, and this year I’ve finally started giving those songs to the world. It feels so good to actually be releasing music after years of keeping it so close.

Since I allowed myself to really plug into writing, I’ve debuted as a writer on Season 2 of NBC’s “Songland” and have had several cuts in network television shows including Love Island and Titan’s Games-to name a few-and my artist project has received some major attention since I’ve started releasing my originals. Now, I could sit here and count numbers all day, but that’s not why I’m here. That’s not why I’m doing this.

Music to me is a channel to express. To connect. I get to sit down and create and share my ideas with the world… with an audience much greater than myself. And that’s the best part of it all. That’s not to say that I’m not so so proud of how far I’ve come- how hard I’ve worked. And I know I wouldn’t be here without the best team behind me and my listeners who make this all even remotely possible. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what’s next in-store.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been times when I’ve asked myself what I’m doing this for or what I even want out of a music career. The thing that’s set me back on track is remembering that I’m not here for the show or look of it all. I’m not here for the labels who may or may not take me seriously, I’m not here to get “TikTok famous” and release songs just to make a paycheck.

As long as I keep channeling my purpose to make honest art that moves people and pulls the life out of the dullness. As long as I set my goals and keep my focus on what matters, I can turn those hard days back around and reset my perspective. That’s what is carried me this far and what will continue to push me and pick me up whenever I get in a rut.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in storytelling. I love songwriting because I get to connect an emotion to a story through my music and let listeners really connect and feel known through it. Every day, I have the opportunity to write and record another song that somebody might have needed. I think we’re all emotional people and it’s healthy to allow ourselves to feel things. I hope my songs give listeners permission to do just that.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up, we traveled around as a family a lot. We’re competitive Waterskiers, so we’d travel cross country in an RV to different tournaments around the US. I’m convinced that if it weren’t for those road trips, I wouldn’t be near as close to the people I hold so near today. Being on the road and being a part of the Waterski community helped shaped my mindset in a lot of ways. They were the best of times with the best people, and I wouldn’t be the same if I hadn’t had those opportunities.
