Meet Anthem And Aria Flint of National

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthem And Aria Flint.

Hi Anthem and Aria, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Anthem and Aria’s story started with a shared fascination for the impossible.

Long before we were touring nationally, appearing on television, or headlining theaters and cruise ships, we were two people obsessed with psychology, theater, storytelling, music, hypnosis, and the strange ways human beings connect with one another. We both loved experiences that made people feel wonder — the kind of moments that leave a room buzzing long after the night is over.

We met in 2014 and quickly realized we weren’t just compatible in life, but creatively as well. Even before we officially became a performing duo, we were constantly experimenting with ideas together — blending mentalism, audience interaction, comedy, psychological illusion, and immersive storytelling into something that felt more emotional and human than a traditional magic show.

What began as small performances eventually evolved into Anthem & Aria, a two-person mind reading and psychological entertainment experience that has now taken us across more than 20 countries. Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to appear on America’s Got Talent, Hulu, NBC, and PBS, headline theaters and cruise ships, and perform for audiences ranging from colleges and corporate events to comedy clubs and performing arts centers.

As our career grew, so did our understanding of what we actually wanted our work to accomplish. At first, we were focused on fooling people. Over time, it became much more about connection. In a world where everyone is distracted and glued to screens, we became passionate about creating shared live experiences that genuinely pull people into the present moment.

That idea now sits at the center of everything we create. Whether we’re performing an intimate speakeasy-style show for a small audience or stepping onto a large theater stage, our goal is the same: make people laugh, surprise them, emotionally involve them, and give them an experience they genuinely talk about afterward.

Today, we continue touring while also developing new immersive theatrical productions, comedy hypnosis experiences, and keynote presentations centered around psychology, perception, communication, and human connection. We still feel incredibly lucky that the strange interests we bonded over years ago became the foundation for a life and career we get to build together every day.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. Like most careers in the arts, it’s been exciting, rewarding, exhausting, unpredictable, and occasionally terrifying all at once.

One of the biggest challenges early on was simply getting people to take us seriously. Mentalism and hypnosis are unusual art forms to begin with, and building a career around them meant constantly explaining what we did and why it was different from the stereotypes people already had in their heads. We had to learn not just how to perform, but how to market ourselves, produce shows, edit videos, build websites, negotiate contracts, manage travel, and run an actual business behind the scenes.

Touring itself can also be incredibly difficult. From the outside, travel entertainment looks glamorous, but the reality often involves long flights, inconsistent sleep, financial uncertainty, hauling equipment through airports, and spending huge amounts of time away from stability and routine. There were periods where we were performing constantly while simultaneously trying to figure out how to sustainably grow the business.

Like many performers, we also faced the challenge of evolving creatively while the industry around us changed. Social media, short-form content, and changing audience expectations forced us to rethink how live entertainment works in a modern world. Instead of resisting that shift, we tried to adapt by leaning harder into what makes live experiences irreplaceable: human connection, audience interaction, spontaneity, and emotional authenticity.

Another challenge was learning how to work together not only as performers, but as life partners. When you build a business with the person you love, there’s very little separation between work and personal life. We had to learn communication, trust, patience, and how to support each other through difficult seasons creatively and emotionally. In many ways, that process shaped the act itself, because audiences can genuinely feel the real relationship and trust between us onstage.

At the same time, many of those challenges ended up becoming strengths. The obstacles forced us to become more adaptable, more creative, and more intentional about the kind of experiences we wanted to create. Looking back, the difficult moments were often the periods that pushed us into the biggest growth.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are live entertainers and theatrical experience designers specializing in mentalism, psychological illusion, comedy hypnosis, and immersive audience interaction. In simple terms, we create interactive live experiences that make people laugh, question what they’re seeing, and feel deeply involved in the show rather than just watching it passively.

Our performances blend psychology, storytelling, theater, improvisation, and audience participation into experiences that feel personal and unpredictable. Some of our work happens in traditional theaters and performing arts centers, while other projects are designed for corporate events, colleges, cruise ships, comedy clubs, and immersive venues. We also develop original themed productions ranging from speakeasy-style mind reading shows to séance-inspired theatrical experiences and large-scale comedy hypnosis events.

What we’re probably best known for is the dynamic between us as a real-life married couple performing together onstage. Because there’s genuine trust and chemistry between us, the audience experiences something that feels more intimate and emotionally authentic than a standard magic act. Our goal has never been to present ourselves as all-knowing or superhuman. We want audiences to feel like they’re participating in something impossible together.

We’re also known for creating “phones-down” experiences. In a time when so much entertainment is consumed passively through screens, we focus on creating moments that fully pull people into the room. We want audiences laughing together, reacting together, and talking to strangers after the show because something surprising just happened in front of all of them.

What sets us apart most is probably the way we combine theatricality with warmth and humor. A lot of mentalism can feel overly serious or intimidating, while a lot of comedy entertainment can feel disposable. We try to live in the middle ground — sophisticated enough to feel memorable and mysterious, but approachable enough that people feel relaxed and emotionally connected throughout the experience.

As for what we’re most proud of, honestly, it’s the fact that we built this career together from the ground up. We’ve had opportunities to perform in more than 20 countries, appear on national television, headline theaters and cruise ships, and receive awards like APCA Mentalist of the Year and Best Variety Show. Those accomplishments mean a lot to us, but the thing we value most is hearing from audience members afterward that they laughed harder than they had in years, felt genuinely connected to the people around them, or experienced a sense of wonder they hadn’t felt since childhood.

That’s ultimately the reason we do this.

What are your plans for the future?
Right now, we’re in a very exciting season creatively because we feel like the work is evolving beyond simply “doing shows” and into building larger experiences and productions.

In the near future, we’re continuing to expand our touring schedule across theaters, performing arts centers, corporate events, and immersive venues while also developing several original productions that blend mentalism, hypnosis, storytelling, and theatrical worldbuilding in new ways. We’ve become especially interested in creating experiences that feel immersive and emotionally memorable rather than just presentational.

One major focus for us is continuing to build destination-style experiences and themed productions, including intimate speakeasy-inspired performances and larger theatrical events that blur the line between psychology, mystery, comedy, and interactive theater. We’re also expanding our keynote and corporate work, where we use concepts from mentalism and psychology to explore communication, perception, leadership, and human connection in a way that feels entertaining rather than traditionally corporate.

Outside of performance itself, we’re investing heavily into building stronger media and online content. Live entertainment will always be the heart of what we do, but we’re excited about creating videos and digital projects that allow people to experience our style and personality even if they’ve never attended a show in person.

Personally, we’re also preparing for a major life transition as we plan a move to Las Vegas in the coming year. Vegas has always been an important city in our story creatively and professionally, and we’re excited about the opportunities that come with being closer to a major entertainment hub while continuing to tour nationally.

More than anything, though, our long-term goal is simple: we want to keep creating experiences that genuinely matter to people. The scale may change, the venues may change, and the projects may evolve, but the mission stays the same — creating moments of wonder, laughter, and connection that people remember long after the night is over.
