Meet Ariana Brown of Ari B Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariana Brown.

Hi Ariana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My journey started at the young age of 13. The first thing pertaining to music that I’ve done was being an artist (rapper). Besides me being in a band all my years of middle school and high school, I always had a passion for music outside of the band. It all started in my grandmother’s living room as far as me making a little studio back in 07-08. I use to record myself right by the front door, as soon as you walk in. I had a fold-up table with all my equipment on it. As the years went by, more and more people around the neighborhood started to find out about my personal studio and use to pay me $15 to $20 just to record them.

After a while, more people wanted to record outside of my neighborhood, and at that time I was living with my grandmother. I didn’t want everyone to know where I laid my head so I knew I had to relocate. In 2014, a friend of mine told me about people turning storage facilities into studio spaces. I took the initiative to call around and see which storage units were allowing that, & I finally found one. I moved in instantly and was there for about a year & some months. I ended up quitting my job to go full-time into the business until my studio got broken into. They stole everything from me. The messed up thing about it, they were a part of my team.

I had to go get my job back just to work to get things back. I laid low for a while until I gathered up a few checks and started my rebuild. I started right back in my house recording. I ended up moving back out of the house into someone who offered me a room inside their church house.

That ended up not working out due to miscommunication & other things. I then moved into another storage unit. I was there for a couple of months. The general manager over there had an issue with all the cars and traffic so she ended my contract. My next move was to Diamond Sound Studios. I was there for about 2 years.

There was an incident that happened up there that wasn’t pertaining to me, but I & others got affected by it. After that, my friend told me about this spot he was in Goodlettsville. I met up with him to check out the space. I moved in a year later after seeing it. I’ve been there ever since. I reevaluated my team, and the structure of my studio, and made the right investments to grow my business.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were spurts of smooth moments but the majority of it it was struggling moments. The struggling moments were grinding trying to get everything back that I’d lost. Struggling moments with trusting new people. Struggling moments with building a new team. Finding a new place for my studios to expand.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
