Meet Ashley Rose, Independent Model, Runway Coach, Fashion Show/Event Coordinator, Choreographer, Mentor, and Entrepreneur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Rose.

Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my modeling career in Memphis, TN at 11 years old.  I was introduced to runway modeling by a family friend, Deborah Robinson who owned a company entitled The Robinson Production. In the beginning, I was very shy and afraid to even attend rehearsal, but once I completed my first show I discovered something new – my alter ego. Once I hit the stage, I was completely different from the little shy girl during rehearsals. I continued to model with The Robinson Production until my junior year of high school, then I decided to focus on sports and preparing for college.

After high school, I relocated to Nashville in 2003 to attend Tennessee State University, majoring in Business Management. Living in a new city and not knowing anyone, I took a long break from modeling – approximately 13 years. Until one day in 2016, I decided to join Facebook. Scrolling through my timeline, I noticed a post for an upcoming Modeling Audition. I thought to myself,  hmmm I haven’t modeled in a while, but I’ll go give it a shot. Well, I auditioned, I was selected to be a model and was asked to assist some other models with their walks. Following that show, I went on to participate in countless shows in the Nashville area.

I soon began to notice, I was continuously being asked to assist other models with their walks, poses, postures, etc. Then one day someone said to me “Ashley you should have your own Modeling School.” Prior to that conversation, I had never given it any thought. Soon after, I decided to put myself out there and host my own Model Coaching Class. My first class sold out and was very successful, so I continue to conduct these classes bi-monthly. I decided to take it a step further and make a business out of what I enjoy doing. For the last five years, I have had the pleasure of assisting with some of Nashville’s leading fashion shows, in roles such as Runway Coach, Fashion Show/Event Coordinator, and Choreographer.

Fall of 2018, I successfully executed my very own first fashion show, alongside a business partner, with a sold-out venue of 200+ guests. Throughout my modeling career, I have been featured on the local news in Memphis, TN, participated in countless runway shows and photoshoots for brick and mortar stores, boutiques, designers, and vendors.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The most challenging obstacle I have faced with being a Model Coach is transitioning from not only being a model in shows but also being in a leadership role amongst my peers. Being in leadership sometimes has the tendency to put a strain on personal relationships.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In conjunction with my Model Coaching Classes, I also incorporate building self-esteem and confidence. As I am an advocate for self-love and self-empowerment, I launched my Positive Affirmation clothing line ‘Positively Motivated by A Rose in November 2019. This idea was a new opportunity to communicate my empowering message of self-affirmation. “Positively Motivated by A Rose was NOT intended to make a “fashion statement.”

My clothing line was created to affirm individuals from the inside, NOT to look good on the outside or for others, but rather to promote positivity and build self-esteem within. Regardless of what your outer appearance looks like, you should feel good on the inside. You are whole and exceedingly ENOUGH all by yourself. You don’t need bright colors, neon lights, glitter, glitz, and glam to be beautiful. You are enough just as you are. Your raw unfiltered self is ENOUGH, WORTHY, VALUABLE, BEAUTIFUL, MOTIVATED, DETERMINED, STRONG, CONFIDENT, and UNSTOPPABLE!

I currently offer T-shirts, Tank Tops, Hoodies, and Masks.
