Meet Blair Roedel of BEC Innovations, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blair Roedel.

Blair Roedel

Hi Blair, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Manhattan, Kansas, as the oldest child of two working parents. From a young age, I was driven to excel in both academics and sports, always seeking ways to impress my parents. A pivotal moment came in 5th grade when my student teacher’s boyfriend, an architectural engineering student from Kansas State University, visited our class with plans and code books. His presentation left a lasting impression on me and set my career aspirations.

I attended Kansas State University, studying architectural engineering with a focus on structural engineering. However, during my senior year, I realized that my passion lay in the construction industry rather than design work. After graduation, I joined a large national mechanical contractor in Kansas City, where I worked for seven years in various roles before transferring to the Greater Nashville area in 2019.

During this time, our family grew with the addition of our daughter, Eleanor, who brought unbelievable joy into our lives. In Nashville, I took on the role of senior estimator for an office with approximately $25M in revenue. In February 2022, I decided to focus solely on BEC Innovations.

Our move to a new construction subdivision in Hendersonville highlighted the constant need for handyman services in the community. Encouraging my husband, Cody, to assist our neighbors led us to legitimize the business by forming BEC Innovations, LLC in July 2020. Despite the challenges of the global pandemic, we obtained our general contractor license shortly thereafter and became licensed as a mechanical and plumbing contractor in 2023.

At BEC Innovations, my role primarily involves sales and business development, ensuring our clients receive the high-quality outcomes they expect and deserve.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has certainly had its share of challenges. Transitioning from a large national mechanical contractor to running my own business was a significant shift. Initially, balancing my full-time job while establishing BEC Innovations was demanding. There were long hours, financial uncertainties, and the immense pressure to build a reputation for doing the right thing from scratch.

The move to Nashville presented its own set of challenges. Adjusting to a new market and establishing a network in an unfamiliar area required persistence and adaptability. Additionally, starting a business during the height of the global pandemic in 2020 brought unforeseen obstacles. Supply chain disruptions, fluctuating demand, and navigating safety protocols were constant concerns.

On a personal level, balancing family life and professional responsibilities has been a continuous juggling act. Our daughter, Eleanor, has always been on jobsites and around our field techs which is both a joyful and also challenging experience. The goal, as with everyone, is to find ways to ensure both family and work thrived.

Despite these hurdles, each challenge has been a learning experience, helping to shape BEC Innovations into the resilient and customer-focused company it is today. The struggles have strengthened our commitment to excellence and our dedication to meeting and exceeding our clients’ expectations.

We’ve been impressed with BEC Innovations, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets BEC Innovations apart is our unwavering commitment to personalized customer service and high-quality workmanship. As a female-owned and led company, we bring a unique perspective to the construction industry. We understand the importance of clear communication, attention to detail, and creating a positive client experience.

One of the key investments we make in the client experience is having a full-time Client Experience Manager. This dedicated professional assists clients with selections, ensures procurement is on track, and provides a friendly ear throughout the project. This role is crucial in making sure that our clients feel supported and informed every step of the way.

Our clients appreciate that we genuinely care about their needs and strive to exceed their expectations. From the initial consultation to the final walk-through, we ensure every step of the process is transparent and tailored to the client’s vision. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional results, whether it’s a small home improvement project or a major renovation.

Additionally, our diverse licensure as general, mechanical, and plumbing contractors allows us to offer comprehensive services under one roof. This not only streamlines the process for our clients but also ensures a higher standard of quality control throughout the project.

Our roots in the community and our drive to continuously improve set us apart. We are not just another construction company; we are a team that genuinely cares about our clients’ satisfaction and the lasting impact of our work on their homes and lives.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is playing catch in the street with my dad. Most evenings, we would spend time together tossing the ball back and forth. Those simple moments of connection and joy hold a special place in my heart and remind me of the strong bond we share.
