Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Maloney Soares.
Bri, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I turned my personal Instagram account into a “lifestyle blogging page” in the Spring of 2019 when I was living in Sacramento, CA. I was encouraged by a friend to do so because I knew a lot of local spots around town, I would post about my outfits, etc. I also wanted to be more connected to the community so I joined a community for bloggers called The Blog Bloc.
I started to make more and more connections around town which led me to bigger opportunities in different cities and states. In the past year, I’ve traveled to 18 states and I’m now living in Nashville, TN where I’m continuing to grow my brand!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
In the beginning of my social media journey, I always compared myself to other bloggers and thought my page had to fit under one niche. I saw bloggers posting about the same brands and I was wondering why I wasn’t reached out to. This made me feel discouraged and made me feel like I needed to be like everyone else. Once I started focusing on my own brand, posting what I wanted to and unfollowing negative influences – my brand started to grow.
Blogging, traveling and meeting new people brings me happiness. I will always keep it real on my page though when I’m going through struggles because we need to normalize the “not so pretty” moments in life.
I’m proud of the amazing connections I’ve built with my followers because we can relate to each other and support one another. You can catch me on my stories with no make up on, hair up, crying at times and just showing real everyday life. I’m not doing this for the followers or “free stuff”. This is my creative and emotional outlet, my side business and my place to connect with others.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Not only did I start blogging to feel more connected to my community – I started because I needed an outlet from my everyday stressors. For the past five years, I’ve worked full-time in the mental health / social work industry. I’m proud of my ability to balance work life and personal life because it wasn’t so easy for me before. The stress of my job was getting to me and I started seeing physical and emotional changes to myself such as gaining weight, becoming more depressed, losing my hair, etc.
Blogging, traveling, meeting new people, etc. genuinely makes me so happy. I will always keep it real on my page when I’m going through struggles because we need to normalize the “not so pretty” moments in life. People on Instagram post their best moments, which is OK (I do this too!)
But this can make some people feel discouraged because they start to question why their life isn’t like that or their relationship etc.
I’m proud of the amazing connections I’ve built with my followers because we can relate to each other and make each other feel comfortable in this space. You can catch me on my stories with no make up, hair up, crying at times and just showing real everyday life.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I would love to connect and support one another! If you’re a business, the best way to connect with me is through email. If you just want to say hi and follow along on my journey- come to my Instagram page! See you there 🙂
