Meet Brianna Jones of Columbia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Jones.

Hi Brianna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
It all started with beauty pageants. I was a shy kid, but many people thought I was a beauty. A friend of my moms mentioned modeling to me, and she looked into it and got me started. I started with the Dan agency in Brentwood. It was exciting for me. At first, it was hard to adjust and get jobs with this agency because of my height and my being so young. By the time I hit age 17, I had gotten with the John Casablanca agency in Nashville. I took modeling and acting classes. I loved it so much that I made many friends, and my modeling coach Veronica was the most excellent instructor. With my acting, Shimmy taught me how to break my shy shell. I made two close friends who were amazing as well and helped me gain confidence. After I graduated from the agency, I started booking more gigs and doing fashion shows in Murfreesboro and Nashville. I started with the model plug-in, then the global inc fashion show. Now I’m headed to L.A., and I’m so excited! I never imagined myself breaking my shy shell and making the fantastic progress I am now.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. I’ve had many ups and downs to get where I am now. Struggling with social anxiety and being confident wasn’t so easy. In the beginning, I was very closed off and reserved. A lot of people referred to me as the “ quiet girl.” I wasn’t used to socializing or being in front of big crowds and standing out. I had to work on it and take baby steps and build confidence. It was also challenging to find people to work with because not many were looking to work with a person with little experience. Some wouldn’t even work with me because I wasn’t as well known as others. I was insecure. I would start comparing myself to other models and questioning if I was as great as them. People would tell me I’d never make it with modeling or that I’d be an Instagram model, and I believed them for a while. I just never let these struggles hold me back from my dreams.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a model, modeling coach, and leader. I specialize in modeling. I’m known for many of my photo shoots and fashion shows in which I have been seen. My purpose is to show people they can do anything they want. Before I started modeling, I thought I was just a nobody and was very insecure. Modeling has opened many doors and opportunities for me. It has made me feel beautiful. It helped me find my confidence. I want to do the same for others and help them reach their dreams. I’m proud that I don’t let my looks get to my head, and I’m still humble and following my dreams. I’m proud of knowing I will touch many hearts and inspire kids and others just like me to change their lives. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to show them their worth and beauty inside and out. What sets me apart from others is my heart and the fact that I’ve never been a follower. I wear my heart on my sleeve and want the best for myself and others. I want to see everybody win, not just me.

Networking and finding a mentor can positively impact one’s life and career. Any advice?
Stay consistent. Do not let negativity take over your mind. Keep a close bond with god and work work work. You never stop chasing your dreams, no matter what anybody thinks or says. I’ve learned you can’t give up and have to keep going even if you don’t want to. The thing that keeps me going is knowing I’m not just helping myself but helping others who want to do what I do. I had to have self-discipline as well. Nothing in life comes easy. Dreams only come true if you work for them. The thing that’s worked most for me is realizing the impact I can create for the next generation. I want them to be bigger than me. You have to keep a positive attitude and work. That’s all there is to it. Reach out to photographers and designers. Practice, practice, practice! Network as much as you can. You have to reach out; eventually, people will reach out to you. It’s simple.
