Today we’d like to introduce you to Bun (ItsBunGaming).
Hi Bun, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A little over two years ago, I started to shift my Instagram and YouTube to be mostly gaming-related content. I loved video games as a kid, I played GameCube and Nintendo DS games with my little brothers- some of those games I still play today, like Animal Crossing and Pikmin! As a teen, I shifted more to playing Sims and making Sims 2 music videos (lol).
I look back and laugh because I loved trying to make my sims music videos the best out there, and one of my videos even got over a million views. I stopped gaming for a while when I was in college because I did not want to get distracted (sims is addicting!), but asked my mom for a Playstation 4 if I got into graduate school. Luckily I did get into the school I wanted, but unfortunately did not play my PS4 much in the beginning. I did not have a great setup for it in my room, making it harder to play, plus I was overwhelmed with schoolwork. However, I ended up realizing that for me to study better, I needed to take breaks. These breaks came in the form of playing video games and making YouTube videos. The YouTube aspect gave me a feeling of productivity that I needed outside of schoolwork while also being a fun break for me. During my graduate school career, my fiancé and I bought each other Nintendo Switches for Christmas. This reinforced my love for gaming even more, and I decided to start building my gaming setup. I documented my setup growth on Instagram, and I think it’s finally complete. As a student, my setup definitely took a lot of time. I didn’t work often through school, so I usually had to save up for bigger items. I’m also lucky to have a fiancé who builds computers. My setup is now my happy place, and I love making YouTube videos, TikToks, or livestreaming on Twitch!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I will admit that I was a little bit afraid to start my gaming account. I figured, as a woman in gaming, that I may get some hate. I am very lucky to have found a welcoming and open community of both men and women in gaming. I get hate every now and then, but it is drowned out by all of the positivity and good within the community. Most gamers in the community are very nice and love to lift one another up.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am known as a kawaii pink gamer. My whole gaming setup (and bedroom) is very pink. I also love to collect cute items to go into my setup- figurines, plushes, controllers, etc. I am known for my pink setup and kawaii unboxing videos! I am most proud of the community I have created. I love each and every one of my supporters online and have made some great friends and partnerships along the way. It is always so fun to hang out with my supporters on twitch and play games together! I think my positivity and personality sets me apart. There are a lot of pink gamers online, I am not unique in that, but I always try to be positive and bring happiness to anyone that visits my page!
