Meet Capt Charolette Maroon of Captains Quarters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charolette Maroon.

Hi Charolette, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always loved the waters. Boating has always been a part of my life as far back as I can remember. I grew up in the Puget Sound area in the great state of Washington. When I was a teenager, I would walk along the wharf and talk to the crab boat captains and listen to the fishermen excitingly talk about their big catch of the day. At the age of 19 I went to Oregon and worked at a marina at the mouth of the Willamette River that flows into the Pacific Ocean. My brother Mike and I loved boating on the Willamette River and Mike is a skilled marine mechanic. My life travels led me to beautiful Nashville, Tennessee. It only made sense to pursue new adventures on the Inland waters. In 2016 I purchased a 30′ Offshore Sport craft and began traveling the waterways of Tennessee. I pursued my captain’s license and opened my company, Captains Quarters. In turn, my brother went to work on the waters alongside me as well by opening his business, Mike’s Mobile Marine Repair. In 2019, I was encouraged by a great captain by the name of Chris Day, to pursue my Boating Instructor credentials to give Open Water Boat Safety courses from beginning to advance for local boaters. I flew out to Virgina Beach and obtained my Instructors Certificate on the Chesapeake Bay with National Safe Boating Council. I am passionate about boat safety! I take boaters out on the open water and train them at the helm. For the last two years I have been working yacht deliveries with Senior Lead, Captain Bill Easley. It takes experience, knowledge, and strength to run million-dollar yachts in as low as 7 feet of water on the rivers. The deliveries have taken me from The Great Lakes to The Keys. Well executed planning, outrunning storms, and every decision leading to a successful delivery is very exciting! The strength and endurance it takes to do what we do makes it a very elite career. I currently hold a 100 ton USCG Master license. I look forward to the 2026 Boating Season and the upcoming Yacht Deliveries. I encourage all those around me who want to work in the boating industry to pursue their dreams of working on the waters.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Obtaining the dream job is always a challenge. The challenges along the way build you. They strengthen you. They can save your life in an industry like this. Nothing was ever a struggle, it was always a challenge. A challenge of strength, experience, and knowledge. The more you have, the safer and better you are.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Captains Quarters ?
Captains Quarters specializes in Open Water Training from beginning to advance. We offer boat services including day charters on Old Hickory Lake. We also offer yacht management services and yacht delivery. I am truly known for my Boat Instructor skills. I am able to understand what a person needs and how they communicate in order to teach them how to safely operate and dock their vessel. I have the knowledge and experience to teach you the best practices and boat maneuvers to keep you safe and protect your vessel. I am most proud of the fact that since starting the Open Water Safety Courses and training at the helm, I can truly say I have saved lives. I have had many students recount stories to me that if they had not known what to do in an emergency situation that I taught them through training, they could have lost their life. If you are a new boater or even a seasoned boater and would like professional training, please reach out to me. I am happy to help. If you are thinking of doing The Great Loop and would like to be trained going through the river Locks, I am here for you. I have designed a great program to train you for this. If you need me to move your boat or manage your boat for you, I can take care of that. If you need a captain at the helm of your yacht while you and your guests relax, I can cover that as well. Whatever your boating needs are, reach out to me. I am here for you.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
My family is an international family. My mother is an African Missionary, and my sister is a Tent Evangelist. I am part of their ministries as well. I am the music director.
