Meet Carli Sparks of CarliCo Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carli Sparks.

Hi Carli, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I opened my boutique in 2017 after withdrawing from college without talking to my parents about any of it! I took care of everything on my own. My mom definitely freaked out because she thought she had raised me to go to college & get a degree!

My dad on the other hand knew college wasn’t for me! After mom had time to process it I told her I wanted to start a boutique! Which was really cool because she wanted to major in fashion merchandising but her parents talked her out of it!

Fast forward to 5 years later and we are now in a college town working together living both of our dreams! We are a mother-daughter duo with a passion for fashion!!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been an easy journey! In our first & second years, we were really thriving! But then of course Covid had a different plan for everyone!

We were forced to close our doors for 8 weeks straight. Thankfully, I was an online boutique for a few months before opening a store front so I had my loyal online customers to help us & keep shopping during Covid! We got little help with finances during the pandemic which of course was super stressful!

By the Grace of God we survived & kept on pushing! We didn’t & haven’t given up! My goal next is to have a second location! Super thankful for the growth of CarliCo considering we built it from the ground up!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
CarliCo Boutique was built from the ground up 5 years ago on my parent’s kitchen floor in small-town Booneville, MS! I withdrew from college & I just knew people thought I was crazy because honestly, I had no idea what I was doing!

I just knew I loved fashion & wanted to give this a real shot! My mom retired from teaching after 25 years to help me pursue my dream of having a boutique. We are definitely known for our unique style & amazing customer service!

We do happy dances every time someone purchases something from us! We have affordable fashion because we want our customer-friends to get more for their money!

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I most definitely took a risk by withdrawing from college & starting my own boutique!!

It’s the best decision I’ve ever made! I get to work with my mom & I get to take my 5-month-old baby girl to work with us every day!! I’m so thankful for this opportunity!
