Meet Carlos Arellano of La Vergne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Arellano

Hi Carlos, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a professional Graphic Designer. I received my degree back in 2010 in my country Venezuela. i came to the US in 2016 to start from zero a new life. At first was very difficult to start. Leave my family, friends and my whole life back was a huge challenge.

I started work in construction by 2 years, then I worked as Lyft driver and also as delivery guy for apps like DoorDash, InstaCart and GrubHub. After 6 months working with deliveries I got a job as Graphic Designer in a print store located in Gallatin and after a few months I got the manager position. Sadly, the store had to close and I decided to try another path following one of my passions, “cars”. I worked for a few months in a shop where I learned a lot about cars, at the same time the owners of a new restaurant in Smyrna (Bella Vista) contacted me to paint a graffiti wall. I did it and that open a door for people to see my art. That was the first of many wall arts that I painted in Smyrna (Bella Vista Restaurant), Franklin (Wilco Restaurant) and AirBnBs in Nashville area.

Although the art projects went well, it wasn’t constant so, I had to look for another options. I focused on cars, buy, built and restore and sell, but also because of my background as Graphic Designer, I started to create content for social media. I started to assist to car events and take pictures and videos of it. I created a YouTube channel and some videos got more than 100k views.

Currently I work from home creating content for social media (Instagram and YouTube mainly) and also I create and edit content for another content creators.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all but everything that worth never is easy. The most difficult parts has been start from zero in a new country with a different language and far away from my family and friends.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in content creation. My background as Graphic Designer allow me to develop myself in different areas as branding, web design, graphic design, marketing and social media management but I discovered that my truly passion is create content through photography and video. Tell histories through the lens of my camera is what I really love.

People that come looking for my service feel attracted for my way to capture ideas and become it in images/videos and I’m very proud to be loyal to my style and being appreciated by others.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
People usually get surprised when they discover that I have many passions and hobbies and I follow them actively, graffiti, photography, video producing and car enthusiast.
