Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Thomas.
Hi Carly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Carly Thomas has been disarming audiences with her honest, heart-on-sleeve approach to songwriting long before she made the leap to Nashville from Northern California.
The Canadian artist (although raised everywhere from France to Argentina) has a certain wanderlust in her soul which is clear in her words and music, especially in her latest collection, Behind The Ficus. Described as “moody Americana/rock” there are also elements of indie pop, folk, and even a hint of country twang.
Her songs offer both an intense vulnerability and immediate resonance. Carly had toured extensively across Canada, The United States, and parts of Europe and has made the move to Nashville to continue her blossoming career and write music that speaks to the soul. Her single, “Stay With Me”, was a breakthrough song for her and a sweet glimpse of what vulnerability looks like in a relationship.
“Behind The Ficus is Carly laid emotionally bare. At times poignant and poetic and at times even whimsical, the album is both a confession and an encouragement to listeners to face and reveal their own truth. “
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Like most singer/songwriters trying to rise to the top, I’ve dealt with the challenges of being independent, creating opportunities, and introducing myself to audiences who would connect to my music.
I find that no matter what the map looks like, there is always a way to experience the beauty of life through writing my story. When I’m faced with hard times, a road reveals itself or an opportunity arises that tells me I am on the right path and doing the right thing. Connecting, sharing, and telling the truth.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have released 3 full length albums and one EP. My current single, “Stay With Me”, has been featured on various North Americana radio including SiriusXM, and CBC Canada. My latest release, “Behind The Ficus” is a genre-bending record with hints of indie-rock, Americana, folk, and country.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I am looking forward to discovering Nashville and connecting with other likeminded artists and listeners to continue to grow, work on my craft, and become part of the thriving music community.
