Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Stump. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Caroline Stump and Megan Ellsworth met at the University of Colorado Denver in the Singer/Songwriter program.
Both of them had a strong love for songwriting and wanted to interview fellow songwriters and industry professionals to gain a better understanding of the craft and build connections within the Denver music scene.
They released their first podcast episode of The Songwriter Diaries in April of 2019 and have continued virtually since Caroline moved to Nashville in August of 2020.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest obstacle for us has been COVID (obviously), which was what initially prompted us to go fully virtual for our interview process via Zoom.
However, this initial obstacle was a blessing in disguise as it made Caroline’s move to Nashville less of an obstacle and opened up a world of songwriters for us to interview.
We have interviewed songwriters and artists from all over the United States and have even interviewed songwriters based in England and Ireland.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Caroline Stump and Megan Ellsworth host a podcast called The Songwriter Diaries where they interview songwriters about their writing process, artist career, and the growth their music has brought them.
We consistently dive into topics of mental health, burnout, and self-care, as well as social issues. We’ve had women talk about what it’s like to be a writer and industry professional in a male-dominated scene as well as had guests in the LGBTQ+ community discuss their experiences as artists and public figures.
We believe what sets us apart is our unique experiences as both performers/songwriters and music industry professionals. We also believe that our openness and plethora of unique guests on our podcast show the full range of what the music industry encompasses.
We are most proud of our willingness to dive into any genre, experience, topic, and stage of the songwriting process.
We ask the questions, but our interviewees lead the discussion.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
People can support us by following us on the listening platform of their choice at The Songwriter Diaries, as well as on Instagram and Facebook at The Songwriter Diaries.
