Today, we’d like to introduce you to Catherine Amoah.
Hi Catherine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started Nabsy hibiscus tea in my kitchen in 2020. Hibiscus tea, popular as Sobolo or Zobo drink, is very popular in West Africa, so when I relocated here to the United States, I thought about making it but with no intention of selling it or making a profit.
In 2023, I registered my business under NabsyLLC and distributed it to a few African stores in Nashville, Tennessee, and Atlanta, Georgia. I look forward to penetrating the bigger stores and across the states. The whole motive behind my business is to promote a part of West Africa. In Ghana, west Africa, we call hibiscus tea Sobolo; in Nigeria, it’s called Zobo.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been difficult and still is; some challenges I faced were getting knowledge about production, which entails finding a commercial kitchen, a lot of paperwork, taxes, etc.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Murfreesboro.
I’m known for my boldness and courage, and I am eloquent, kind, and beautiful. What I’m most proud of is my achievement as a mom, wife, entrepreneur, and businesswoman.
What sets me apart from others is perseverance.
What’s next?
My plans for the future are to own chains of businesses, including a drive-through eatery.
