Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Smith.
Hi Chase, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a Nashville native who grew up in Williamson County and attended The University of Tennessee. These days, I am an East Nashville resident building a startup management company, while also specializing in residential real estate in Nashville and the surrounding areas.
Prior to becoming involved in real estate, I worked for several companies in the music industry doing day-to-day and tour management based in Nashville. My most recent role was with Red Light Management, where I worked with artists such as The Highwomen, Maren Morris, and Ryan Hurd at the 42ent group.
In 2020, Covid rocked my world and brought along challenges I could have never foreseen. I left Red Light to help found TBD Management with my business partner, Brad Parker. Since partnering at TBD, we have signed five artists to the roster working outside of the traditional country space typically seen in Nashville. Additionally, this summer, we helped create and launch a new music segment dubbed The Bus Stop Sessions alongside the popular Barstool Sport’s podcast “Bussin’ With The Boys.” The Bus Stop Sessions Season 1 has already featured artists such as Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Moon Taxi, and many more!
With my experience in the music industry, I learned that nothing goes fully according to plan and that there will always be challenges that come with every new situation and opportunity. In April of 2020, I decided to acquire my real estate license while the music industry had come to a complete halt. I had always been interested in real estate but was surprised to find my experience in management had already prepared me for pursuing the career. I knew how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable, find solutions to problems, and how to work with all types of people.
In August of 2021, I became a licensed realtor in the state of Tennessee and joined the Parks Realty Broadwest Office. I chose Parks because of the relationship I had with Greg Fritz, who is a Parks agent at the Franklin office. He is a mentor and a great friend of my family. I have always admired how Greg made a pivot years back from the music and entertainment world and built a business from scratch. We were a match made in heaven, and 2021 would have looked very different without Greg’s guidance.
In my first full calendar year as an agent at Parks, I am projecting to close nearly 20 million dollars in volume with over 40 transactions as a solo agent by the end of 2021. At the moment, I am even a Top 50 volume producing agent for the entire company and in the running for GNR’s Rookie of The Year. Greg and I are now partnering to become the Fritz-Smith team heading into the beginning of 2022 and bringing on new agents to train and work with us on this new endeavor.
Regardless of the industry, I’ve found my true passion is people. Life is all about relationships and I have been so blessed with opportunities to work in two industries that I truly believe help put a smile on someone’s face. That’s what it is all about!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth would be the exact opposite adjective I would use to describe my journey. In my short professional career, there have been many ups and downs, but that’s just life. As an entrepreneur working in two separate industries, you are bound to face challenges, especially when those industries are so volatile.
I have been fired, furloughed, endured a pandemic that decimated the music industry, and seen countless deals unravel. I have had to learn how to stay positive, roll with the punches, and make the best of each situation. I truly believe that if you are working hard and are passionate about what you are doing, success naturally follows. Nothing is guaranteed, but good things happen to those who work hard.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
That Nash Realtor, LLC, and The Fritz Smith Team
When I became a licensed realtor, I began working with Greg Fritz. He is one of the best agents in Nashville and I feel truly blessed that we connected as I began building my business. If not for Greg, there is no way I would have been able to handle the volume that has come my way in this first year. In the past few months, Greg and I have decided that moving forward we will be known as the Fritz-Smith Team. We are excited about bringing other new agents onto our growing team and building a reputable brand.
Aside from the Fritz-Smith team, I have my own personal brand and LLC known as That Nash Realtor. Since diving headfirst into real estate, I have specialized in everything from purchasing investment properties and renovation opportunities to first-time buyers and luxury listings. You name it, I have seen it. It is a blast working on something that is brand new. The Fritz-Smith and That Nash Realtor brands are still being fine-tuned every day, and we are excited to continue to grow more into our own in 2022.
Our hope is to operate and serve our clients with the highest level of attention to detail possible. We want to help clients through the home buying and selling process with as much ease as possible. Ultimately, we hope at the end of the day we are putting a smile on someone’s face. We want our clients to walk away from each transaction feeling that we are more than just their agent, but a friend and resource that is always readily available to them.
TBD Management
TBD Management was founded by my partner, Brad Parker, in 2019. Brad is an incredible person to work alongside and is one of the most well-connected guys I know in Nashville. It isn’t very often that I have found someone that I truly feel matches my level of energy on a day in day out basis, but Brad is that guy, pal. I partnered with Brad and TBD in the spring of 2020 and we have been growing the company ever since. TBD specializes in full stop management services, primarily for artists outside of the traditional country space.
Since partnering, TBD has signed five artists to management and also helped co-create and brand the music series “The Bus Stop Sessions” for Barstool Sports podcast “Bussin’ with The Boys.” At TBD we want to offer to our clients our connections, knowledge, and expertise to help artists that might not have access to the infrastructure needed in a town where country music is king.
It is our goal to help nurture and to be a resource for the community that is growing so rapidly here in Nashville. We couldn’t be more excited about where the TBD brand and the company itself is heading
