Meet Chelsea Connerley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Connerley.

Hi Chelsea, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My life could easily be compared to trying to piece together four different puzzles into one and nothing making sense. Up until the last year, I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. I was just going with the flow and figuring out each piece along the way. I went to college for Art History and Anthropology then earned my Master’s in Museum Studies, all along thinking I belonged in an art museum. Cut to the job search post-graduate degree when jobs were hiding in plain sight. But alas, an exciting and unique job opportunity fell into my lap…. Manager of a wellness spa?

I found myself instantly called to helping open a business called Bluestem Wellness and manage it from the ground-up. My passion for health and wellness blossomed from there. I soon became a personal trainer and it all seemed to fit. Jump to the pandemic… like most of us, I questioned my future, my hobbies, my interests, etc. I realized there was still one puzzle piece missing that I had needed, and wanted, my whole life. Acting. I grew up wanting to be an actress, comedian specifically (thanks, Jim Carrey). With all my extra time, I decided to start looking into acting and improv classes. Cut to the present, I am finally feeling more like myself than EVER before.

Like I’m on the path I was meant to be on all along. All it takes is realizing what you’re passionate about and taking the steps necessary to make that happen. Who knew it could be so easy!!! Now, I’m an actress, voice over artist, model, AND manage a wellness spa… oh and a mom (did I mention that? That’s my favorite part). If someone had told me years ago that all I had to do to make my dreams happen was to send a few emails, join a community of like-minded people, and jump in head first, maybe I could have found myself much quicker. But better late than never, right?

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Life isn’t LIFE without challenges and struggles. For me, TIME will forever be a challenge. There’s never enough time in a day to get everything done. But prioritizing your needs should always come first.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m newer to the acting world but I have always wanted to be an entertainer. From my childhood performing in plays and orchestra, to high school hosting the school’s talent show, to my adult life never being afraid to be goofy or emulating Jim Carrey’s outrageous behavior, I enjoy making people laugh and smile.

When I started taking Improv classes, I felt like I had finally found my space to free my creativity in an environment that was judgement-free and allowed my funny bone to come to life (everyone should try it!). Now I feel a sense of confident that I never knew I had. I plan to really hone in on that part of me over the next year and hope to be part of sketch comedy groups and more comedy shows and films!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Dive in and don’t hold back!!! Don’t settle for contentment because it’s easy. Strive for the life you’ve always dreamed of and understand you are capable of literally ANYTHING!!!
