Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Draves. Them and their team share their story with us below:
In 2017 our founder Kristina Miller was inspired by her barrel horse, Dandy. Dandy came into her life when Kristina needed some kind of change, and the lessons that he taught her in the practice pen and jackpot arenas translated into her everyday life. She was pushed to step away from her 9-5 job and pursue her dreams. She knew she couldn’t rodeo full time while working for someone else. That is where Dandy Lashes was born.
Kristina ran the business on her own until late 2019 when she had to take a break when her and her husband had a lifestyle change. Kristina was still very passionate about continuing Dandy Lashes and knew if she could get some help with social media and marketing, that the business would be unstoppable. In November 2020 Kristina asked her cousin’s wife Cheyenne (who had been a big supporter of the business from the start and Kristina & Cheyenne had become very close) to join in as co-owner, and the two have been in business together ever since.
Kristina is great at running the behind-the-scenes, website development, taxes, inventory, and logistics. Cheyenne loves social media and marketing and create’s content. We have great balance and what the other person lacks, the other one thrives on! Cheyenne and Kristina are both passionate about entrepreneurship and inspiring other women to be the best versions of themselves, so they get to pursue both those passions through Dandy Lashes!
Since being in business together with Dandy Lashes, Kristina and Cheyenne have also started a podcast called the Women in Western Podcast where they interview women in the western community and aim to inspire others through stories and advice.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. Kristina and Cheyenne both had major life events occur in early 2o21 which brought less effort into the business which translated in sales. Kristina lost a close family member and Cheyenne had her first daughter and struggled with anxiety and breastfeeding. Both of us were not putting as much effort into the business as we used to because other things required our attention. Getting out of that slump, we came to the realization together that the grass is not greener on the other side, it’s greener where you water it. We put a lot of effort into goal-setting self-development in late 2021/ early 2022 and it has paid off with great opportunities.
We’ve been impressed with Dandy Lashes, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Today, Dandy Lashes is run by two women passionate about entrepreneurship and inspiring others. The most beautiful thing about being a woman is being able to look glam while doing what sets their soul on fire. Whether that be in the office, at home raising a family, or out working on the ranch, Dandy Lashes wants everyone wearing their brand to feel their best. When you are the best version of yourself, you are empowered to inspire others, and Dandy Lashes hopes we can help you do just that.
Dandy Lashes are big 3D mink lashes. Each style is unique and they range from soft & subtle to big & bold. The band is made of soft cotton for a comfortable wear and with proper care, they can be worn up to 25x times.
What sets us apart from other false lash businesses is that we cater to all. different types of women in order to help them feel as confident as they should. You don’t have to be an Instagram influencer or a celebrity to feel your best. Some women feel best when they are driving their kids to softball practice, some at the office presenting a big pitch at a meeting, and some riding in a rodeo. We want to inspire all women to be the best version of themselves, no matter what it is they are doing.
Our biggest accomplishment as a brand is collaborating with Miss Rodeo America 2022 Hailey Fredericksen and creating a lash style inspired by her. She was one of our first customers years ago before she won the title. She has been a customer since the beginning so it just felt right to honor her with her very own lash style we still have available to this day. We believe as a rodeo queen she embodies what it means to be a confident woman inspiring others.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
We came and visited Nashville in June 2022 and fell in love with the energy of the city. Our founder Kristina has a huge passion for music so experiencing the talent of the city was amazing. The women of Nashville have such big dreams and aspirations and we feel as though our brand aligns with women trying to become the best version of themselves.
