Meet Chris Chapman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Chapman.

Hi Chris, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started playing music about six years ago in a band called “Five Speed!” One guy knew someone and they knew someone else and we just became a band. We blew up in the metro Atlanta area and we’re on our way!

Unfortunately, life took control and some became fathers and husbands and no longer had the time to play! That’s when I branched out and started doing my own music. I’ve always loved writing music but being able to sing my own music has been incredible.

I started making a name for myself on my own and decided it was time to make the move to Nashville, so here I am!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not even close to smooth. The music business is about 95% no and 5% yes. What I mean by that is, you’re told no so many times that even the smallest yes feels like you’re on top of the world!

The hardest part has been getting your name on the marquee. Booking shows is time-consuming and pretty much just begging bars to let you in the door. Once you’re in the door, it’s on you!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a country music singer/songwriter! I think what sets me apart is who I am, and that’s just me. I don’t want to be any different than the guy you would meet at the grocery store or wherever the guy you see up on stage.

I believe that’s what keeps people coming back to hear me play. What I’m most proud of, is feeling like I’m making my son proud. For him, to see his dad chase his dreams has to be inspiring for him, so I just have a sense of pride about that!

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Just roll with it. Everyone has a path, just trust you’re on the right one and let it happen!
