Meet Christie Davis of Christie Davis Interior Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christie Davis.

Hi Christie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have a degree in business and spent years working in that world, but I never really loved it. When my husband’s job had him traveling often and we moved to Nolensville with our two young kids, I found myself at home in a builder-basic house that was about ten years old. During nap times and late nights, I started painting, hanging curtains and photos, and planning out design ideas just for fun.

Before long, friends and neighbors began complimenting our home—and then asking for help with theirs. At first, I helped people organize their spaces, thinking I couldn’t really offer design advice without a degree. But I quickly realized that no one was asking to see a diploma—they just wanted someone who would listen, understand their needs, and help them create a home that truly reflected who they were.

Soon I started working with women in my community who had never hired a designer before—women who were often nervous or even embarrassed to let someone see their home. My goal became to make them feel completely at ease so we could uncover what made their family unique and how to tell that story through their space.

Whether it’s incorporating heirlooms, displaying travel memories, or finding creative ways to make an impact on a budget, I love helping people create timeless, meaningful homes that aren’t about trends or impressing others. It’s about designing spaces that feel comfortable, personal, and lived-in—a reflection of the family’s story and the life they love.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a straight or smooth road, but every challenge has taught me something valuable. When I first started, I struggled with confidence—wondering if I could really do this without a formal design degree. I had to remind myself that what mattered most was the way people felt in their homes and the relationships I was building with them.

Balancing motherhood, a husband who traveled often, and growing a business from home also came with its share of chaos. Most of my early projects happened during nap times or late nights after the kids were asleep. But that season shaped my approach—I learned how to make the most of limited time, limited budgets, and real-life messiness, which is exactly what my clients relate to.

There were moments of doubt and a lot of learning along the way, but every home I’ve worked in has strengthened my belief that design doesn’t have to be intimidating or perfect. It’s about creating spaces that feel authentic and attainable. Looking back, the “bumps” are what gave my business heart and purpose—they’re the reason I can connect so deeply with the people I design for today.

As you know, we’re big fans of Christie Davis Interior Design. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m the owner-designer behind Christie Davis Interior Design —-based in Nolensville, Tennessee and serving the South Nashville region including Brentwood, Franklin, College Grove and Smyrna.

My business centers on two core values: your style and your pace. I believe good design doesn’t mean rushing or following every trend—it means creating something that feels authentically you, with an approach that fits your budget, your timeline, and how your family lives.

My goal is to work with families who may feel a bit unsure—but are ready to create a home that represents their family, their memories, their lifestyle. I help them uncover what’s unique to them, show them where to invest and where to save, and deliver a space that is timeless—not just trendy.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice is to just start—don’t wait until you feel perfectly ready or credentialed. I spent too long thinking I couldn’t call myself a designer because I didn’t have a formal degree. What I’ve learned is that your passion, your eye for detail, and your ability to truly connect with people matter so much more.

Start where you are, use what you have, and let experience be your best teacher. Every project, no matter how small, builds confidence and clarity. Listen to your clients, ask questions, and focus on understanding how they want to feel in their homes. That empathy and curiosity will take you farther than you can imagine.

I’d also say to stay grounded in your “why,” focus on serving people well, and be authentic. When you lead from that place, success naturally follows.
