Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Fernández Guzmán
Christina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
At the beginning of 2024, I faced a serious health scare that changed my perspective on how stress and anxiety impacted my body. After experiencing severe chest pain and an EKG showing signs of an impending heart attack at just 34 years old, I embarked on a journey to explore why this happened and to learn how to better nurture my well-being. It was a wake-up call that pushed me to confront how much I had been ignoring the signals my body was trying to send me in my efforts to do it all.
Through this challenging experience, I discovered breathwork as a powerful tool for healing and regulating my nervous system. It helped me find calm, balance, and a deeper connection to my body. Breathwork became an essential part of my daily routine, providing me with the clarity and strength I needed to rebuild my health and mindset.
Now, I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned with others. I want to help them experience the same transformation—whether they are struggling with stress, anxiety, or simply seeking to bring more peace and balance into their lives.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been anything but smooth—more like a bumpy ride with unexpected detours and the occasional breakdown. Looking back, I can see that those challenges were necessary for my growth. Life threw many changes at me in a very short time, and there were moments when I honestly didn’t know if I’d make it to the other side.
What helped me most was leaning on my support system of family and friends and learning how to ask for help—a lesson that didn’t come easy but made all the difference. I also had to learn to give myself grace and stop being so hard on myself. I realized that things didn’t always have to be perfect, and neither did I. That shift in mindset was a significant part of finding peace in the chaos.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Certified Breath Coach with a passion for teaching others about the transformative power of breath. My work focuses on helping people regulate their nervous systems and enhance their overall well-being through simple yet powerful techniques. Beyond breathwork, I’m the creator of The Self Love Tonic™ Journal, a guided tool for personal reflection and growth, and I also host The Self Love Tonic Podcast. Through the podcast, I engage in open and honest conversations with inspiring women, exploring topics like self-love, mental health, and holistic wellness.
I take great pride in the opportunity to teach others—whether it’s guiding someone toward finding calm through breathwork or creating a safe space for genuine conversations about challenges and growth. Witnessing people connect with these tools and feel empowered to thrive is incredibly fulfilling.
What distinguishes me is my willingness to be vulnerable and share my own hardships and challenges as lessons to help others. I believe in maintaining a realistic and relatable approach, demonstrating that healing and growth are possible for everyone. This enables me to connect deeply with the people I work with and inspire them on their own journeys.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up as an only child, I was a bit shy around new people but came alive with my close friends or cousins—they felt like siblings to me. We spent so much time together dancing, laughing, and making funny videos that still crack me up when I think about them. When I wasn’t with them, I enjoyed spending time alone, teaching myself new skills and exploring my interests. Basketball was my main focus as an athlete, but I was always drawn to creative pursuits like art, music, and photography.
