Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine McDevitt.
Hi Christine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After more than two decades of planning weddings, social events and corporate meetings for luxury hotels nationwide, my passion for weddings has only grown. In 2019, after working at a boutique property in Nashville, I knew it was time to launch my own wedding and event planning company.
Specializing in the wedding markets of Middle Tennessee and Florida has allowed my team and me to assist countless wonderful couples in making their wedding dreams come true. Unlike many of our competitors, we don’t offer pre-set packages. We believe that every event is unique and by working closely with each couple we help bring their vision to life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been smooth sailing from the get-go. There is so much that goes into starting any business but starting a hospitality-related business in 2019 and then having the world shut down due to Covid in 2020 was definitely not easy. There were a lot of clients who canceled or postponed their weddings & events. Then when we were able to start doing weddings again it wasn’t easy. So many venues had different rules and regulations dealing with number of guests and mask policies. It was a new world when it came to wedding and event planning.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
CM Event Design is a boutique wedding and event planning company with offices in both Middle Tennessee and South Florida. We specialize in curating spectacular weddings and event s throughout the United States, Caribbean and Mexico.
We are not a wedding planning factory. We do not typically book more than three weddings a month. With a staff of 5 we believe in personalized and dedicated service which is why we want to give ourselves more than enough time to be able to focus on brining a couple’s vision to life.
We were nominated for the 2023 National Association for Catering & Events (NACE) award for wedding of the year. We didn’t win but it was a true honor to be nominated.
