Today, we’d like to introduce you to Cille Martin. Cille was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Andrea Santa Maria.
Cille, thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a natural curiosity about the “why’s” of life and people’s behaviors. This innate curiosity, paired with my passion for creating time and space to hear others’ stories and help them reach their highest potential, led me to the field of counseling. I received my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and have been a practicing therapist for over three years. During my time in DC, I worked at a local university’s Student Counseling Center, where my interest in outreach and excitement for working with college-aged women ignited. Since moving back to Nashville, where I was born and raised, I’ve had the privilege of working at Delilah Counseling, a private practice for women and girls. I enjoy helping individuals and couples struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, and relationships. I also specialize in working with college students and young adults who may be struggling to balance work and/or academics, relationships, independence, and the changes and challenges associated with coming into adulthood.
Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
It can be intimidating and overwhelming to start prioritizing the improvement of one’s mental health, so my goal is to provide therapy that’s accessible, comfortable, and approachable for everyone, whether they’re motivated to finally see that change in their life they’ve been seeking, or simply curious about therapy. I collaborate with clients to help process their concerns, and identify and work towards their goals in a safe, nonjudgmental space. I use an integrative, strengths-based approach based on clients’ needs to help them learn to prioritize their mental health and overall wellbeing while navigating through life’s ups and downs. I am a person-centered counselor who recognizes the importance of uncovering the ways in which a person’s past can influence their current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. My favorite thing about being a therapist is getting to come alongside my clients as they take ownership of their goals, and start to reap the benefits of that personal commitment to their mental health journey!
Andrea Santa Maria and Delilah Counseling have been great to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship with them as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Andrea Santa Maria and Delilah Counseling and your experience with them.
I was first introduced to Andrea by a mutual connection when I was looking to get started in private practice after just moving back to Nashville. As soon as I heard that she might be hiring, I was eager to learn more about her and her practice, Delilah Counseling. After a quick Google search, I found myself perusing Delilah’s website… “welcome to delilah. take a minute to breathe. we are so glad you are here.” I could tell right away, from these first few sentences of the homepage, that this was a practice that was relatable and authentic – two words that also describe Andrea so well. Andrea is a therapist who goes above and beyond for her clients and colleagues. She is extremely passionate about helping others reach their goals, which is exemplified by the seemingly endless amounts of time, energy, and attention she dedicates to her clients and to Delilah as a whole. She’s always coming up with new ideas for her clients and the practice, whether researching worksheets or activities to incorporate in sessions with clients, brainstorming strategies for marketing or social media, or simply making cosmetic updates to the office space to make it as welcoming and comfortable as possible. Andrea takes on many roles at Delilah, but balances them all with grace and a fun-loving spirit. I can honestly say that I’ve never experienced a day at Delilah where I’ve dreaded going to work, not only because I love what I do, but also because I always look forward to getting to spend time with the Delilah team. I know that when I go into work, no matter what the day may hold, I can rely on having Andrea on my team to encourage, challenge, uplift, and support me (not to mention keep us all entertained with her hilarious, down-to-earth sense of humor)! It’s a joy to work alongside Andrea and bear witness to her unmatched work ethic and commitment to Delilah Counseling.
