Meet Collin Henderson of Master Your Mindset

Today we’d like to introduce you to Collin Henderson.

Hi Collin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I grew up believing that I need to perform well in order to be worthy.

This was a double edge sword. It helped me in my academics and as a scholarship 2-sport athlete in college, but it eventually took its toll. I carried this mindset into my professional career in medical sales and I hit a breaking point about 8 years ago. I was swirling in a combination of shame, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome. I had battled anxiety for most of my life and was looking for anything to help me.

I love this truth, “when the student is ready, the teacher appears.” I changed medical companies in 2014 and was exposed to a sales coach that introduced me to the principles of positive psychology. He shared with me a book list of many thought leaders and research on the power of the mind.

I started learning and applying these principles. My life literally changed. Not only did I start seeing sales records, but I became more at peace, happy, and a better version of myself.

In 2016, I started blogging, posting on social media, and giving talks on the things that I learned… all dealing with mindset. In 2019, I started my own company, Master Your Mindset, and train companies, sports teams, and schools nationwide on how to win the most important game — the inner game.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My performance anxiety manifested into a slight stutter dating back to sixth grade.

I can’t even count how many times I fumbled, mumbled, and stuttered in front of many people. This left me feeling sad, defeated, and at times hopeless. I often wondered if I could even maintain my sales job or get promoted with these challenges.

Luckily, in my late 20, I went to speech therapy and a club called Toastmaster’s to help improve my stutter. I now speak to audiences in the thousands!!! If I can overcome my biggest fear, so can you.

Another challenge I had to overcome as a public speaker has been COVID. I had to completely update and transform my business from live events to virtual training and online courses. It’s been a blessing to have those options.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Master Your Mindset, LLC?

I did ballet for two years as a kid and 7 years of choir.

Thus, I love music and dancing. I’ve actually won two talent shows in my life. One in college and one as an adult. I try to mix dance, singing, and beat-boxing into my training.

My wife and I moved to Nashville from Seattle in August of 202i and we have five beautiful children.
